Rough platforms,[1][2] also known as spotted platforms,[3] knobby platforms,[1] and ridged platforms,[4] are platforms typically found in forts and castles in the Yoshi's Island series. They have two sides: a safe area indicated by spots on one side, and a serrated, harmful edge on the other that can cause Baby Mario to fall off a Yoshi's back. Yoshis can flip the platforms by striking arrow blocks of their corresponding color either by hitting them or shooting them with an egg. In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, they are first found in Salvo The Slime's Castle in a room past the room with the Middle Ring with green and red color variations. In Yoshi's Island DS, multiple red rough platforms appear as obstacles in Castle of Priscilla the Peckish. In Yoshi's New Island, they are found in Fort Key Calamity with two color variations, yellow replacing green.
