Template:Species-infobox Coin Bandits[1] are relatives of Bandits that first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, where they sport pink-colored clothing. Their name comes from the Red Coin that they carry above their heads.

History

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3

Coin Bandits run away from Yoshi on sight. Yoshi can cause them to drop their Red Coin by licking or shooting them with seeds from a Green Watermelon, upon which their behavior reverts to that of normal Bandits and try to snatch Baby Mario instead. Coin Bandits can be defeated by attacking them with three jumps, three eggs or a Ground Pound. If Yoshi grabs the coin without touching the Coin Bandit, it will act as if it was still holding the coin.

Yoshi's New Island

Coin Bandits return in Yoshi's New Island, only in the level Bandit Valley. In this game, they are red rather than pink, but otherwise act the same as they did in their original appearances.

Trivia

  • The normal Bandit enemies in the Paper Mario games have the same basic coloring as Coin Bandits, and are likely based off them since they are considered to be variants of the same enemy in Japanese.
