The Super Hammer is a powerful upgrade to the regular Hammer appearing in various Mario franchise games.
History
Donkey Kong (Game Boy)
In Donkey Kong for the Game Boy, Super Hammers made their first appearance. In addition to being able to defeat all enemies, Super Hammers could break through brick walls and some floors. They first appeared in the Desert in stage 5-1. Like regular hammers, they could be thrown upwards in the game, allowing Mario to take them to a higher platform. Mario cannot jump while holding a Super Hammer.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, it is an item that could be brought from the item shop in Marrymore and can be equipped through the pause menu as a weapon for Mario to use.
Paper Mario series
Paper Mario
In Paper Mario, it can smash Stone Blocks and deals more damage to enemies. In battle, a timed Super Hammer attack deals four points of damage to a defenseless enemy without attack-raising badges (while Mario's normal Hammer only delivers two). It is found in Dry Dry Ruins inside a small room with a Stone Block blocking the way out.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it can be used to break large Yellow Blocks in addition to ordinary ones (it cannot break Stone Blocks unlike in the first game, however). In this game, it is alternatively referred to as the HAMMAWHACK 2005, and is given to Mario in Glitzville by Podler, who in turn received it from X, so that he could could use it to smash the huge Yellow Block in the minor league locker room. Podler says that the commercials for it claim that the hammer chooses its user, and that they aren't cheap.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its 3DS remake, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, the Super Hammer is an upgrade to the regular hammer, which can be acquired from the Hammerhead Bros. inside the caverns of eastern Beanbean Fields after mastering the hand techniques in Oho Oasis. These hammers can smash gray-colored rocks (chinked gray-colored rocks in the remake) in the overwold, one of which happens to be blocking the entrance to Teehee Valley, and another blocks the entrance to the first room of eastern Beanbean Fields's caverns, which allows the bros to acquire the Secret Scroll 1 and learn the Swing Bros. Bros. Attack. Unlike the Super Hammers in the Paper Mario series, they are not any stronger in battle, similar to its succeeding upgrade, the Ultra Hammer.

Trivia
- The Super Hammer command in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door battles will always deal one damage to enemies attacked behind the front enemy, regardless of attack-enhancing effects and enemy defense.
- According to Podler, the commercial for the Super Hammer say that the hammer "chooses its user", which appears to reference Thor's hammer, the Mjolnir, which also chooses its wielder and is gray in color.
