- “I'll have you know that vase cost one million rubees.”
- —Mimi, Super Paper Mario
A Rubee is a type of currency found in Super Paper Mario. They resemble small red gems, as do Flipside Tokens. Their name may be a combination of "rubies" and "Rupees", the currency in The Legend of Zelda series.
In Chapter 2-3, Mario and Princess Peach break a vase belonging to Mimi, under the guise of Merlee's maid. Mimi orders Mario and Peach to pay for the vase in Rubees — one million of them, to be exact. Mario and Peach only had Coins on them, however, so Mimi puts them to work to pay off the debt. Mario and Peach start off working just like the other captives. They start working in generator rooms to earn Rubees but soon discover a massive hoard of Rubees with the help of Slim, allowing them to pay off the debt.
Later, Mimi used Rubees to attack the heroes, dropping them on the heroes. They stick in the floor on impact. Even in this state they are a threat, as they impede the heroes' movements and damage the heroes if they jump on them. However, despite their spiky nature, they can be carried with Thoreau and then thrown at Mimi.
