They are encountered by Mario in Super Paper Mario, during his fight with the malfunctioning Fracktail. Mario uses Thoreau's ability to pick up the Frackles that are trying to defend their host and throw them at his antenna (his weak point). After being hit multiple times, Fracktail is defeated and explodes, which also brings about the end of the Frackles.
