"Temporarily increases DEF at the start of battle." (3DS)
First appearance Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (2003)
Latest appearance Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (2017)

The Beanstar Pants are gear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. They can be purchased in the Beanbean Castle Town Clothes Shop after repairing the Beanstar.

In the original version, they are exclusive to Luigi in the Japanese version but can be worn by both Mario and Luigi in international releases. They give a DEF boost, being 55 points in the Japanese version and 60 points in international releases. They have the First Strike effect, so having them equipped allows the wearer to start the battle able to move first, regardless of SPEED stat, similarly to the #1 Trousers. They cost 1750 coins in the Japanese version and 500 coins in international releases.

In the remake, they are again exclusive to Luigi. They now give both a 40 DEF boost as well as an extra 15-point boost to HP. They now have the DEF-Up effect, so having them equipped now gives a temporary DEF boost that grants an extra 50% to the bro's base DEF stat for 3 turns. They cost 780 coins.
