Latest appearance Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)

White Blocks[1] are special Semisolid Platforms appearing in Super Mario Bros. 3 and its corresponding game style in Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS and Super Mario Maker 2. They only appear in grasslands. In Super Mario Bros. 3, if the player crouches on them for an extended period of time, they will fall behind the stage where most objects are. If the player reaches the goal while in the background, as possible in World 1-3, they are transported to a special Toad's House to receive a Magic Whistle.

In the Super Mario Maker games, the player will only do a small hop if they crouch on a White Block for approximately five seconds. In this case, a special sound effect plays. This is an Easter egg referencing to the White Blocks' behavior from the original game.
