This article is about Power Badges from Yoshi's Woolly World. For the Badge of the same name from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, see List of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga gear § Power Badge.

A Power Badge is a power-up in Yoshi's Woolly World and its remake Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World that grant Yoshi a variety of beneficial effects. They are similar to the Special items from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. The player can select one Power Badge to use from from a menu that appears prior to starting a level and the Power Badge is removed from Yoshi upon exiting the level. In multiplayer, each player selects their own Power Badge. Power Badges cost beads to equip. The player can switch their current Power Badge at anytime during the level via the pause menu, but this also costs Beads and the game does not restore a purchase made if the player swaps away from then back to the same Power Badge. Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World allows the player to view which Badge they have on the Touch Screen, and access the selection menu while pausing the game in one stroke by tapping on a button that displays the Power Badge. Sometimes after completing a level, an "Everything's free!" event is held. In it, the player can select a Power Badge prior to starting a level at no cost.

During boss battles, the player cannot use the "Play alongside Poochy" Power Badge. During the battle against Mega Baby Bowser, the player cannot use several additional Power Badges. Such Power Badges cannot be selected during these battles. If they are selected before entering, the badge has no effect. Power Badges cannot be used at all in the Boss Challenges of the Boss Tent; the option to select one does not appear.

The different Power Badges are listed as follows:

Image Name Cost Badge effect Unlocked after
Used in case of images missing from a section gallery, table, bestiary box, or certain infoboxes. No badge... 0 Represents the option of not selecting a Power Badge. World 1-1
Clear course power badge Clear the course! 2000 Allows Yoshi to skip the course. This badge can only be used in Mellow Mode. World 1-1
Yarn ball power badge Make all yarn balls big! 1000 Every yarn ball Yoshi creates is instead a big yarn ball. This is the only way for Yoshi to spit big yarn balls out. Hitting an Yarn Basket causes it to release big yarn balls up to Yoshi's maximum, rather than releasing yarn balls or big yarn balls one at a time. Any yarn ball that starts to follow Yoshi immediately becomes a big yarn ball. Existing yarn balls following Yoshi do not become big yarn balls when this badge is equipped, but can be affected if Yoshi has the yarn ball stop following them then start following them again. This cannot be chosen while fighting Mega Baby Bowser. World 1-2
Pit power badge Fall into a pit? No problem! 7500 Causes the player to bounce out of bottomless pits instead of being sent to the last Checkpoint or the start of the course. World 1-4
ground pound power badge Power up Ground Pound! 5000 Causes Yoshi's Ground Pound to generate a shockwave if it concludes against the ground. The shockwave defeats most on-screen enemies. Enemies approaching from the background can be affected, but enemies too far away in either the main plane or the background will not be. The shockwave can affect bosses in different ways depending on the boss, but does not inflict damage. World 1-6
Melon power badge All-you-can-eat watermelon! 5000 Has a watermelon on a propeller fly into the course directly above Yoshi. It reappears if Yoshi does not have this watermelon in his mouth and this device is currently not on the screen. This cannot be chosen while fighting Mega Baby Bowser. World 1-8
fire and lava power badge Immunity to fire and lava! 7500 Fire only knocks Yoshi back and disrupts them, rather than damaging them. Yoshi bounces off of lava instead of being sent back to the last Checkpoint or the start of the course. World 2-4
poochy power badge Play alongside Poochy! 500 Causes Poochy to appear in the course, jumping on screen after transitions or if he leaves the screen. Poochy has a number of uses, including defeating enemies, collecting Beads, locating Wonder Wool, and being a platform that can move across hazards and appear in the air. This cannot be chosen while fighting bosses. If unequipped, Poochy immediately leaves. World 2-5
defense power badge Higher defense! 3000 Makes the player lose three hearts instead of five upon receiving damage. This cannot be chosen in Mellow Mode in the 3DS port. World 2-8
item power badge See hidden items! 5000 Causes invisible Winged Clouds to appear when Yoshi is near them, makes beads containing Stamp Patches/Pencil Patches glow when visible, and makes hidden areas flash when they are on-screen. This cannot be chosen while fighting Mega Baby Bowser. World 3-4
tongue grab power badge Grab items with Yoshi's tongue! 3000 Allows Yoshi to grab beads, Smiley Flowers, Wonder Wool, and Stamp Patches/Pencil Patches with his tongue. For these items, the tongue does not stop to grab them. Instead, contact with the tongue adds them directly to Yoshi's possession so the tongue passes through. World 3-8
SpeedBadge YWW.png Improve your speed! 3000 Makes Yoshi run, jump, swim and climb faster. Notably excludes flying and flutter-jumping. World 4-4
MagnetBadge YWW.png Pull items towards you with magnetic force! 5000 Causes beads, hearts, Smiley Flowers, and Wonder Wool to be pulled towards Yoshi when he gets near them. Items that are attached to Item Balloons are unaffected. World 4-8
FireWatermelonBadge YWW.png All-you-can-eat fire watermelon! 5000 Has a fire watermelon on a propeller fly into the course directly above Yoshi. It reappears if Yoshi does not have this fire watermelon in his mouth and this device is currently not on the screen. This cannot be chosen while fighting Mega Baby Bowser. World 5-4
IceWatermelonBadge YWW.png All-you-can-eat ice watermelons! 5000 Has a ice watermelon on a propeller fly into the course directly above Yoshi. It reappears if Yoshi does not have this ice watermelon in his mouth and this device is currently not on the screen. This cannot be chosen while fighting Mega Baby Bowser. World 5-8
