The Final Countdown is a Battle minigame in Mario Party 7 and a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars. Its name comes from the 1986 song of the same name performed by the Swedish glam metal band Europe.
Introduction[edit]
The panels start at two, then count down to zero and open. They then reset to random numbers as the players head in from the sides and leap onto the platform.
Gameplay[edit]
The playing field is a platform with nine panels. There is a number on each of the panels (1–9), and the numbers on the panels decrease by one after a certain time period. If the number on a panel reaches zero, the panel gives way, eliminating any player standing on it, then automatically resets to a random number from one to nine. Competitors can move and punch and kick their opponents to try to force them off the whole platform or into a hole. Additionally, the countdown speed increases as the minigame progresses. The last player standing on the number panels wins the minigame. If two or more players survive until time runs out, those players win. If all players fall off simultaneously, the minigame ends in a tie.
Ending[edit]
In Mario Party 7 and Superstars, Fly Guys drop any losers onto the platform in the order they placed, from second to fourth. Winners then perform their victory poses while losers perform their losing poses. If everyone survives until the end, everyone performs their winning pose. If everyone falls off, the winner is dropped off by a Fly Guy first, followed by everyone else. If all four players fall off simultaneously, the Fly Guys drop off all four players, then they all do their losing poses.
