The Daytripper (known as the Royal Racer in the British English version) is a kart from the Mario Kart series. The vehicle resembles an old-fashioned and decorated horse-drawn coach, with its rear tires larger than the front. The emblem is located on the sides and back of the kart. Its American English name is a reference to the Beatles' song "Day Tripper", and the Spanish name of "Sunday Driver" references the lyrics "She was a daytripper, Sunday driver yeah".
History
Mario Kart series
Mario Kart Wii
The Daytripper first appears in Mario Kart Wii as a medium-sized kart. It can be unlocked by winning the 150cc Leaf Cup or by playing 2,700 races. The kart features great handling along with decent weight, acceleration, off-road, and Mini-Turbo. However, its speed and drifting are below average. It shares the same weight as the Standard Kart M and the same off-road as the Quacker. However, it is the slowest medium kart in the game and its drifting is the same as the Magikruiser, while its speed is tied with the Cheep Charger. Its bike counterpart is the Zio Zip.

Mario Kart Tour
The Daytripper returns in Mario Kart Tour, where it is classified as a Super kart. It uses the Wood tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, although footage of the Yoshi's Egg item from the official Mario Kart Tour Twitter account shows it with the Slick tires from the aforementioned games instead.[1] Unlike in Mario Kart Wii, it only has Peach's color scheme no matter what driver is using it, and the lights at the front are no longer shaped like flowers. The Daytripper increases the duration of Dash Panel boosts and the amount of points earned for using Dash Panels.
The Daytripper also has two variants: a red, white, and pink variant of this kart called the Sweet Daytripper, introduced in the Peach Tour, and a black and gold variant called the Head Honcho, introduced in the Summer Festival Tour. Both variants are classified as High-End karts.
The Daytripper is normally obtainable from tour pipes and the shop's Daily Selects. However, it has been made obtainable through other means as well; below are instances of special availability for the kart listed by tour.
