Goomba Wheel is a species of Goombas that debuted in Paper Mario: Sticker Star, interrupting Mario in World 1-2, Bouquet Gardens. It is a group of five Goombas stacked on top of each other, forming a vertical line, then formed into a wheel. It rotates and circles Mario, while wheel and motor sound effects can be heard throughout. In battle, however, the Goomba Wheel is fought as single Goombas. Battle Spinner is introduced by Kersti in this fight.

In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Mario and Luigi first encounter a Goomba Wheel in Sunbeam Plains (just before Paper Mario joins the party), formed together by nine Paper Goombas. The Goombas will then roll and chase after the bros; during this sequence, the player must press A Button and B Button repeatedly to run away from it, but they can't escape and the Goombas defeat them. Right at that moment, Paper Mario comes down from the sky, defeats the Goomba stack and is introduced. After Paper Mario joins the party, stacks of Paper Goombas occasionally turn into Goomba Wheels to attack Paper Mario, which can be avoided using his high jump.

Goomba Wheels return in a forest area of Paper Mario: Color Splash called Sacred Forest, but they are referred to as "Small Goomba Wheels", since they and the entire forest are tiny due to Kamek's magic. Five Goomba Wheels surprise Mario when he's about to get the second Mini Paint Star piece and try to guard it. This time around, they are fought as wheels unlike in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. The wheels make revving sounds similar to those of a racecar.

While one single Goomba Wheel appeared in Paper Mario: Sticker Star, in Paper Mario: Color Splash, several Goomba Wheels can be fought along Sacred Forest.
