- “Man, it's hot! Good thing I'm not wearing any clothes. Don't think too hard about that.”
- —Huey, Paper Mario: Color Splash
Redpepper Volcano is a location from Paper Mario: Color Splash. The path leading here is unlocked after getting the Red Mini Paint Star from Kiwano Temple, and unlocks paths leading to Redpepper Crater and Violet Passage. A Draggadon resides here.
Layout[edit]
When Mario first visits the area, Huey comments on how hot it is in the volcano. After crossing platforms in the lava, Mario finds yellow Rescue Squad Toad #11, who goes back to his captain at Sacred Forest. Huey says that something could come out of the lava, but advises Mario to explore somewhere else and return later.
After the Draggadon is repainted at Marmalade Valley by the orange Big Paint Star, it moves to Redpepper Volcano. Mario and Huey can approach the lava area, only for Draggadon to appear. Despite Huey trying to talk to it, it suddenly attacks and breathes fire. Mario must hide in an alcove after running away, then use cutout to drop the Basin Thing from Fort Cobalt on Draggadon's head. The Fishing Pole and Magma Burger can be used to ride Draggadon around. A platform with a purple Mini Paint Star is located to the south, and if Mario docks there, Huey encourages him to give the Magma Burger to Draggadon as a reward. Also on this platform is a blue Snifit coaching a Fire Bro with his aim. Collecting this Mini Paint Star opens a shortcut to Violet Passage.
As Draggadon has already eaten the Magma Burger, Mario must buy another one from Fort Cobalt to get the next Mini Paint Star. This one is located north, on a platform with a blue Snifit and a blue Slurp Snifit. This leads to an area with a lot of Spike Tops and Lava Bubbles, along with a few bridges. A pathway leads to a room with the red Mini Paint Star, although it is too far away to reach. In the following area, Mario has to jump between ledges while avoiding Spike Tops and lava. If he falls, there is an exit that leads back to the previous room. Near the end is a section where Mario must avoid rising lava.
The following area contains many platforms in the lava that Mario must navigate while avoiding Fire Bros. After he reaches a Draggadon area, he can destroy all the platforms and enemies. There are two unpainted paths in the lava, so Mario must navigate and repaint them on foot and then use Draggadon to safely cross the lava. The blue Snifit is angered about his trained Fire Bros. being defeated, only for an Ice Bro to appear and want coaching. The Ice Bro throws an ice ball at Mario, but misses, then disappears again.
Another entrance to the red Mini Paint Star room follows. Mario can repaint a Warp Pipe for a shortcut, and red Rescue Squad Toad #43 is clinging to a stalactite. The Bottle Opener Thing from the Golden Coliseum must be used to open a bottle-shaped rock and cause lava to spew out, filling the room. After Mario rescues the Toad, he can get the Mini Paint Star to open the path to Redpepper Crater.
