Ecks is a member of the Extension Corps under Zokket in Mario & Luigi: Brothership alongside Ten and Shun. He is a floating, magenta being that wears a yellow cape. Ecks has black eyes with white pupils, and his mouth has yellow, square teeth, while his hands are based on spade connectors. He also has a purple horn extending back from his head which, along with his teeth, appears to based on a phone/ethernet plug. His name is derived from the first syllable of "extension", in reference to extension cords; Ten and Shun are named after the other two syllables.
Before Gobblick is fought, it is being fed Spite Bulbs (a hostile, Glohm-infused version of the Sprite Bulb) by the Extension Corps. When Mario, Luigi, Connie, and Snoutlet run afoul of the scene, Shun tries to explain what the trio of troublemakers is doing, only to be shut up by Ten, while Ecks decides that Gobblick can just fight the heroic quartet as a counter-offer. During their getaway, Ecks claims that the Extension Corps has more important business, or "a bigger fish to zap" in his words.
Ecks' role during the battle against Sharpcask is larger, with him playing the role of support enemy. When Sharpcask's health reaches 25% maximum, he may perform a dance to give Sharpcask a power boost.
When Mario and Luigi lock horns with the Extension Corps one last time in Zokket's fortress, Ecks uses high-speed attacks. First, he may perform a move similar to the Spritzbloom from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and must be repelled with a hammer strike before he zaps a Bro. In his second attack, Ecks will sneak up behind his target to crash into them from behind; this is countered by jumping on him. Ecks' third attack is part of the Extension Corps' combo attack when Shun uses one of his Battle Plugs which merges them in mind. This one has Ecks dash into the Bros. from the sides, and his charges must be countered by jumping. This is done while Ten shoots plasma from his arm cannon and Shun punches a punching bag. Additionally, if the Bros. dodge the barbells that Shun lifts in his weightlifting attack, Ecks takes 88 damage upon getting hit by the large barbell (unless the barbell strikes Ten instead). In the final leg of the fight, Shun uses an Invincible plug so that the Extension Corps cannot be damaged; however, a fiery blast will trigger a few turns afterward. Since Ecks levitates, he cannot be hurt by ground-based weaponry. Ecks has the highest speed of the trio.
