B Dasher

Template:Kart-infobox The B Dasher is Mario's main kart of choice in the game Mario Kart DS. It returns as an unlockable kart body in Mario Kart 7, along with being a downloadable kart body in Mario Kart 8, and a randomly unlocked kart body in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is a long, skinny, white kart with stripes along each side and a massive engine block with four large exhaust pipes. It appeared on the box art of Mario Kart DS, and it resembles the real Honda RA272 Formula One car. It is the first vehicle in the series to have a racing car design; a feature that has became staple in the subsequent games, in which one or two vehicles are having a racing design. Its name is most likely a reference to the controls of the side-scrolling platformer games - the player presses and holds the B button to dash. The in SNES was also used for acceleration in Super Mario Kart. In Mario Kart 8, it is one of the several vehicles to have a supercharged engine, based on its sound. The B Dasher has a noticeable difference that the exhaust noise is louder and more audible compared to others. It additionally shares the same engine sound with the P-Wing.

In Mario Kart Wii, there is a kart called the B Dasher Mk 2 in Europe, Australia, and Japan, making it the Mario Kart DS kart's successor. However, it's called the Sprinter in the American edition.

The B Dasher appears as the main kart in Mario Kart DS. Like the Standard Kart, it is balanced in stats and has average speed, good handling, sharp drift, above average acceleration, and high items & weight; it is one of the heaviest karts in the game, and its weight is tied with the Streamliner, Royale, Standard DK, Standard WL, Brute and Zipper. Its speed is tied with the Standard MR, Egg 1, Standard DS and Power Flower. Its acceleration sharing with the Standard MR, Standard LG, Streamliner, Royale, Standard PC, and Light Dancer. Its handling tied with the Standard PC, Light Tripper Standard WR, Brute, Dragonfly, Light Dancer, and Zipper. Its drift is tied with the Standard MR. In a minor note, despite its appearance would suggest, it has a weak-sounding two stroke engine, which is the same as Standard Kart.

To let any character use the kart, the player must obtain all the gold cups in 150cc Mirror Mode. Until then, only Mario can use this kart. Daisy and Waluigi can use this kart after the player has obtained all gold cups in 150cc Nitro or Retro Grand Prix.

Mario Kart 7

The B Dasher reappears in Mario Kart 7 as an unlockable vehicle and is noticeably more powerful than in Mario Kart DS. It features a speed and handling boost, but its acceleration and off-road stats are hindered during the process. In fact, the B Dasher is tied with the Blue Seven and Bolt Buggy for having the lowest acceleration of all kart bodies. Fortunately, it's tied with the Blue Seven, Bruiser, and Zucchini for having the highest speed of all kart bodies, and it's the fastest kart body to have a positive handling boost and to not have a negative impact on the air speed stat.

It now has a four stroke engine and its sound is actually the same as Mini Beast, Wild Wing, and Flame Flyer from Mario Kart Wii.

CPU Mario is more likely to be seen driving on this body, often using the Slick wheels and the Super Glider.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The B Dasher once again returns in Mario Kart 8 as part of the first downloadable content pack, The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8. It uses the same exact stats as the Mach 8, Sports Coupe, Circuit Special, Gold Standard, and P-Wing. The design remains unchanged, aside from the engine being larger and more visible within the exhausts. Its sound suggests that it is possibly powered by a four-cylinder engine.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it is unlocked randomly by collecting coins, and its stats have been altered so that it now reduces the water speed, air speed, acceleration, ground handling, water handling, air handling, anti-gravity handling and miniturbo stats while increasing the traction stat. The B Dasher now only shares its stats with the Circuit Special and P-Wing. CPU Mario, Daisy, Dry Bones, and Iggy are occasionally seen using this body paired with the Standard tires during races.
