Concordia[1] is the main setting of Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It is described as a parallel world where the ocean stretches out before Mario and Luigi, to which they arrive through a mysterious portal that opened up near Peach's Castle.[2] Concordia was once a single continent, but it was broken apart into many islands.[3] These islands range from tropical rainforests to bustling cities, and can be accessed by the brothers via the cannon mounted on top of Shipshape Island. Its name is the Latin word for harmony, and serves as a pun on "connection cord." It may also have been chosen as a reference to several real-life historical sailing ships of the same name, and Concordia-class cruise ships.
Upon his awakening, the overarching antagonist Reclusa christens Concordia as Reclusa World[4][5].
Inhabitants
It has been requested that this article be rewritten and expanded to include more information. Reason: Grampy Turnips, Gorumbla, other enemies and bosses
It has been requested that at least one image be uploaded for this section. Remove this notice only after the image(s) have been added. Specifics: Examples of the various colors / proportions of the humanoids
The most common species inhabiting Concordia are humanoids with plug-shaped faces resembling Type B regional outlets. They come in a wide variety of skin colors (such as lime green for Rumbla Island and green for Bulbfish Island) and proportions (for example, Connie and Ireen have relatively wide faces and are short, while Technikki, Dulles, and Cozette are taller and have narrower, taller heads), with wires coming out from the top of their heads that act as their hair. Some Concordians still have typical facial hair and eyebrows, however. There are also the Skorcheen and Slippenglide peoples who additionally have fire and ice attributes, respectively.
In addition to the Concordian humanoids, there is a species of flying pig-like creatures, with the only known members being Snoutlet and the Great Conductor. There are also the Extension Corps, consisting of Ecks, Ten, and Shun, who are based on different types of electrical connectors instead of plugs. The other members of Zokket's army were artificially created by him.
Other inhabitants include Grampy Turnips (humanoid turnip creatures that can be pulled out of the ground) and Gorumbla (a mischievous gorilla-like creature).
Locations
- Shipshape Island: An island serving as the player's base. It was converted to function like a ship when Zokket sundered Concordia. Shipshape Island has a Uni-Tree that replaces the previous desecrated one and serves as its sail.
- Lushgreen Sea: The first sea visited.
- Rumbla Island: An area covered in rock sculptures that the inhabitants make. Willma is the chief of the local village.
- Raynforst Island: An island with a rainforest biome. Billdit is trapped here.
- Twistee Island: An island with abundant nature. A large tree called the Twisten Sprout grows here, serving as the island's landmark. Maykit is trapped here.
- Florall Island: An island with flowers.
- Lushgreen Sea Great Lighthouse Island: A relatively large island containing the first Great Lighthouse visited. The Gobblick is fought here.
- Color-Full Sea:
- Desolatt Island: A desert land with various buildings.
- Merrygo Island: An island with a carnival theme.
- Lottacoins Island: An urban island that has contributed to Concordia's economic development.
- Allsand Island: A conventional desert island.
- Color-Full Sea Great Lighthouse Island: Contains the second Great Lighthouse. A barrel-shaped monster named Sharpcask can be found here.
- Brrrning Sea:
- Bulbfish Island: This island's residents commonly fish for bulbfishes.
- Heatfreeze Island: An island covered with magma on the eastern half and ice on the western half. Inhabited by the Skorcheen and Slippenglide peoples, although the Concordians here are in a feud.
- Slippenglide Island: A frozen-over island marked by a large ice cream bowl.
- Skorcheen Island: A volcanic island where Doctor Vulko lives.
- Brrning Sea Great Lighthouse Island: Contains the third Great Lighthouse. A monster made of toxic goop called Pipegunk lairs here.
- Gulchrock Sea:
- Offandon Island: Bowser brought this island under his control, turning the island's people against the Bros. This forces the Bros. to mask themselves to get through the plaza.
- Wayaway Island: Bowser brought this island under his control, setting up a fortress here.
- Gulchrock Sea Great Lighthouse Island: Zokket did not use this island's Great Lighthouse due to the lighthouse being too small for his plans.
- Fortress Zokket: Zokket's fortress, where he nurtures a monster called Reclusa. The fortress later lands in the Stormstar Sea and is converted into the Soli-Tree when the fiend awakens. Following Reclusa's death, the fortress and the Soli-Tree collapse.
- Stormstar Sea:
- Conductor Island: The Great Conductor hid here when Zokket sundered Concordia. Mario visits this area at the start of the game after his and Luigi's arrival in Concordia.
- Jellyfish Island: An island home to the dance hall Club Dyode. The dance hall's exterior resembles a jellyfish, hence the island's name.
