Not to be confused with Scooter or Mona's scooter.

“These motor scooters may look old-fashioned, but they pack a punch and are perfect for tooling around the city. Be sure to try one out!”
Metro Kingdom brochure, Super Mario Odyssey

Motor scooters are vehicles that Mario can use in Super Mario Odyssey. They are found in the Metro Kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom. Motor scooters have a similar coloration to the taxis in the Metro Kingdom. If the Cap Throw is used on them, they drop a coin, up to three. Mario can get on by either jumping or attempting to use the Cap Throw while next to one. While on one, the player accelerates with Y Button or X Button and steers with Control Stick. Mario can jump while driving with A Button or B Button. He can dismount with ZL Button or ZR Button. Mario can accelerate even while falling. He can drive into enemies such as Goombas and Sherms to defeat them. Motor scooters fall through enemies when stomping them instead of bouncing off, similarly to a Ground Pound.

Motor scooters are fast, making them useful for Timer Challenges in both kingdoms. A New Donker in New Donk City will reward Mario with a Power Moon if he parks a scooter in their parking lot. There are two such lots and thus two Power Moons. Other Power Moons have motor scooters nearby but may not require them. Two Timer Challenges, one in the Metro Kingdom and the other in the Mushroom Kingdom, have a motor scooter near their starting position. One bonus area has Mario run from a T-Rex to find Power Moons, with a motor scooter provided. The Vanishing Road area lets Mario use motor scooters to cross temporary platforms to collect Power Moons. The motor scooters in Vanishing Road are intended to be optional. Being able to get both Power Moons there without using the motor scooter is required for 100% completion because a second version of the area found on the Dark Side has no motor scooters.

Motor scooters are one of few objects in the game that Mario can control without having to capture them. As such, their controls are listed in the Action Guide under Basic Actions.
