A Fuel Drum[1] (or fuel drum),[2] also known as a Fuel Canister[3] (or fuel canister)[4] and Fuel Barrel,[1] is an uncommon barrel found in Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
History
Donkey Kong Country
In Donkey Kong Country, Fuel Canisters appear in only one level, Tanked Up Trouble. They have a critical role of fueling a platform that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong use during most of level. Each Fuel Canister has some red dots indicating how many of the platform's five gauges they can refill and, in turn, their usefulness to the Kongs, who must quickly collect any Fuel Canister they come across, as the platform's energy drains quickly. Fuel Canisters with one, three, and five red dots respectively fill the same number of gauges on the platform.
Fuel Canisters with two dots and four dots each exist in the game's graphic data,[5] but they are unused.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Fuel Drums were redesigned to have a blue paint, and they similarly only appear in only one level, Rocket Rush, in lesser quantities than Donkey Kong Country's Tanked Up Trouble. Fuel Drums are instead a fuel source for the Rocket Barrel.
