In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, they are found in World 6-1 and in World 8-4. Unlike normal Spikes, Stone Spikes can only throw their spiked balls downwards, rather than forwards or backwards. They can be defeated just like normal Spikes: by jumping on its head, by throwing a fireball at it, or by freezing them using an Ice Flower or a Penguin Suit.

Stone Spikes reappear in New Super Mario Bros. U and its Nintendo Switch port. Their behavior is similar to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, although there is an aesthetic difference in that their rocks are colored dark brown from this game onwards. They appear in Dry Desert Mushrooms in Layer-Cake Desert, where they are the main obstacles.

In New Super Luigi U, they appear in Stone Spike Conveyors where they are once again the main obstacle.

Mario Party: Island Tour

Stone Spikes appear in Mario Party: Island Tour in the minigame Mad Ladders. Here they throw spiked balls down the cliffside as obstacles for the players.

Their character type is Power, meaning that their shots are fast and powerful. A Mega Spike and Mega Stone Spike also appear as bosses in the Road to Superstar mode.

Stone Spikes make their Paper Mario series debut as enemies in Paper Mario: The Origami King. In battle, their origami variants behave quite similarly to normal Spikes, albeit with slightly different damage outputs, and their spike balls can be jumped on without damaging Mario. A Paper Macho version also appears on ? Island guarding the Shangri-Spa Toad statue, and on Scuffle Island as one of the seven opponents.

Dr. Mario World

Stone Spikes appear in Dr. Mario World, being seen on areas of World 22 and World 29 after they have been cleared of Viruses.

Mario Golf: Super Rush

In Mario Golf: Super Rush, Stone Spikes appear as minor NPCs in Golf Adventure.
