Mad Ladders (Rung Direction in the British English version) is a General minigame featured in Mario Party: Island Tour. The American name is a pun on the Mad Hatter, while the British name is a play on "wrong direction" and the rungs of a ladder.

Introduction[edit]

The opening sequence shows both Stone Spikes throwing a boulder down the abyss. It transits to the bottom of the abyss, where all four players begin climbing up. Two players in particular jump from ladder to ladder to avoid being hit by the boulders raining down.

Gameplay[edit]

The objective of the game is to climb the ladders and get to the top of the wall first, while avoiding the spiked boulders two Stone Spikes keep dropping down the wall, as these will stun players who get hit by them for a short period. Players can jump from ladder to ladder using the Circle Pad. As ladders end, they must jump to another one to continue to climb.

In Time Attack, this is the ninth minigame. If the player does not get hit by a boulder, they earn a Party Star.
