Glohm Bowser is the form Bowser takes after being infused with Glohm by the Zok Troops' Glohmatic Quad-Ray in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this form, his strength is amplified, allowing him to manipulate Glohm to his advantage.

History

At the end of Mario and Luigi's first excursion into Fortress Zokket, the two reach the top floor in time to witness Bowser confronting Zokket and the Extension Corps, trying to rescue Bowser Jr. However, seeing potential in Bowser's raw power, Zokket resorted to parking the fortress in the Center of Concordia, and firing the Glohmatic Quad-Ray from the four Great Lighthouses directly at him, turning him into Glohm Bowser.

After Glohm Bowser's defeat, he drops the fifth Power Tap, before fainting and reverting to his normal form, leaving Bowser Jr. to tend to him. Eventually, the two managed to escape the fortress through unknown methods.

Battle

Glohm Bowser is a level 36 enemy, who is constantly afloat unless he is stunned, making him immune to all hammer attack and Bros. Attacks that target ground enemies. As a member of the Koopa Army, a Glohm-infected enemy, and a flying enemy, he is affected by the three corresponding "Specialist" Battle Plugs. Throughout the battle, he will occasionally take a turn to partially infuse the ground with Glohm, infecting any nearby Zok Troops with it, until eventually it spread to the entire arena, causing Mario and Luigi to always take a small amount of damage at the end of Glohm Bowser's turn.

Glohm Bowser can use various moves against the Bros., some reminiscent of his moveset from his previous fight.

  • He may shrink into his shell and dash around the Bros., occasionally closing in to hit one of them, or jumping up to drop onto his target. Before he does either, a "woosh" sound plays to indicate the incoming attack.
  • He may attempt to face off against one of the brothers, alternating between breathing fire at the target, throwing a quick punch, do a ground pound that stuns the target and create several Glohm shockwaves, or jumping aside to target the other brother.
  • He may summon two large pipes that hide the Bros. entirely and spin around the arena to disorient the player, before shooting a fireball into each pipe, requiring the player to know which brother is in the pipe before the fireball hits in order to parry it.
  • He may call some Zok Troopers or a Shy Guy Airtub to battle, the former of which might become their Glohm variants if the pool of Glohm under Glohm Bowser is big enough. the Zok troopers will perform their usual attacks, and the Shy Guy Airtubs will fire cannon shots either at or around the Bros, which can be batted back into Glohm Bowser.
  • Finally, he can continuously spit a stream of fire, requiring Mario and Luigi to either jump over or stay under the flame as it sweeps across the arena at alternating altitudes.

After half his health is depleted, Glohm Bowser becomes more powerful, boasting a higher Attack and Defense, and is more likely to move multiple times per turn.

If enough damage is dealt to him in one attack, Glohm Bowser might start to stumble. If this repeats enough time, he will eventually become dazed, dropping onto the ground and become briefly immobile, though he usually recovers within one turn. During this period, hammer attacks will not miss, and attempts to use Luigi Logic against Glohm Bowser won't be interrupted.

Luigi Logic

The option to use Luigi Logic during this battle appears whenever a Shy Guy Airtub is on standby in the background. However, it can only be used if Glohm Bowser is stunned, since he would otherwise destroy the air ship before Luigi can manage to board it. If this condition is met, Luigi successfully hijacks the airtub with Mario's help, and the two fly away with Glohm Bowser hot in pursuit.

While fleeing on the airtub, the Bros. can use Left Stick to control the ship, and B Button to fire the cannon at Glohm Bowser and do additional damage, though this ends after a set amount of time had passed, or if Glohm Bowser successfully hit the air ship once. Regardless of the time spent in air, the Bros. will crash land on a different area, resetting Glohm Bowser's attempt to infect the whole arena with Glohm.

After doing this twice, no more Shy Guy Airtubs will arrive to assist Glohm Bowser, and thus, Luigi Logic cannot be activated again.
