Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 (called Animal Crossing: New Leaf × Mario Kart 8 up to November 2014) is one of three downloadable content packs available for Mario Kart 8, the others being Mercedes-Benz × Mario Kart 8 and The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8. Originally scheduled for release in May of 2015, it was later pulled ahead to an earlier release date of April 23, 2015.[1][dead link]
The re-release of Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Switch as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe contains all of the previously released DLC for Mario Kart 8 in the base game, including this pack.
Contents
Like The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8, this pack contains three new characters, four new vehicles (2 karts, a bike, and an ATV), a new set of tires, a new glider, and two new cups with four courses each.
Characters
These characters may appear as CPU racers when the DLC has been bought. Additionally, in online races, players that have not purchased the pack can see other players use these characters.
- Villager - A playable character from the Animal Crossing series, based on the Animal Crossing: New Leaf design. The character comes in male and female variants, both have slightly different stats.
- Isabelle - A non-playable character from Animal Crossing: New Leaf that helps players in their role. This is the first playable appearance of Isabelle.
- Dry Bowser - A skeletal version of Bowser, who was first playable in Mario Kart Wii.
Kart parts
- Streetle - A kart based on the Animal Crossing series.
- City Tripper - A bike based on the Animal Crossing series. It looks similar to the Sugarscoot from Mario Kart Wii.
- P-Wing - A kart with the same name as the P-Wing power-up.
- Bone Rattler - An ATV that appears to be based on Dry Bowser.
- Leaf Tires - A set of tires based on the Animal Crossing series.
- Paper Glider - A glider based on the Animal Crossing series.
