After successfully executing the attack forty-three times, Mario and Luigi learn the Advanced version. In the Advanced version, more controls are added. The controls for the standard version are the same, but to execute the Advanced version, gba must be pressed immediately after the first gba press. Then the controls are gba to hit Mario and gba to do damage, which repeats indefinitely (though the move deals less damage over time) until the action command is failed. In the 3DS remake, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, however, the move has been nerfed, as Luigi can only hit Mario up to five times for an "Excellent!" rating (doing so only once gives a "Good!" rating, and four times gives a "Great!" rating), and Luigi winds up for the last hit.

Template:Attack-infobox Knockback Bros. is one of Luigi's Bros. Attack during the events of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. It is based off of Mario's Mini-Mario form. In the original, the move costs five BP on Modes 1 and 2, and three BP on Mode 3. In the remake, the move costs eight/ten BP for its regular variant, and ten/thirteen BP for its Super variant. When activated, the bros spin backwards, Luigi smacks Mario on the head with his hammer, making him smaller, and hits him like a golf ball, sending him into the selected enemy to damage them. The buttons pressed are B Button to whack Mario, B Button again to send him shooting toward an enemy, and A Button to do damage to the enemy.

After successfully executing the attack forty-three times, Mario and Luigi learn the Advanced version. In the Advanced version, more controls are added. The controls for the standard version are the same, but to execute the Advanced version, A Button must be pressed immediately after the first B Button press. Then the controls are B Button to hit Mario and A Button to do damage, which repeats indefinitely (though the move deals less damage over time) until the action command is failed. In the 3DS remake, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, however, the move has been nerfed, and it can hit multiple targets rather than a single target, as Luigi can only hit Mario up to five times for an "Excellent!" rating (doing so only once gives a "Good!" rating, and four times gives a "Great!" rating), and Luigi winds up for the last hit.

This move is also used by the brainwashed Hammer Bros. fought by Baby Mario and Baby Luigi in the Vim Factory from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, where they perform it exactly the same as the Mario Bros. did in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. They use it when under influence of the Shroobs's mind-control helmets, and are only able to perform it together with both Hammer Bros. still alive on the battlefield. Occasionally, their hammer will break, causing the other Hammer Bro to bounce towards Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. To dodge the attack, the Baby Bros. must jump over the Hammer Bro that was hit at them, or stand still when their hammer breaks.
