An Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. is a special variety of Hammer Bro. found in Super Mario World. An Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. hovers around on a platform composed of two gray Turn Blocks with a wing on each side that swings back and forth. This enemy tosses hammers from his helicopter-like tool, attempting to attack Mario. He can be defeated by hitting him from below, from the side with a projectile attack, or on top.

When the Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. was defeated, the flying platform would remain and continue on its original flight path, allowing for an extra platform on which to stand; however, if the platform's rider was defeated before the platform itself begins to move, it would not have a set path and would instead stay in place. This is like defeating a Lakitu in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, except the player has the ability to control the cloud instead of it moving on its own.

One Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. appears in the Nintendo Adventure Book Dinosaur Dilemma, capturing the remaining dinosaurs in Dinosaur Island while they, Mario and Yoshi are looking for food near Lake Trilobite. The Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. threatens to capture Yoshi as well, but is scared off by Mario.

Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bros. made a reappearance in Super Princess Peach, with a new "Calm" version that sleeps. This variation was called a Calm Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro.. Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bros., shortened to A. F. H. Bro. in the game's enemy glossary, had Koopa-like skin.

Trivia

  • An Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. makes a cameo in the Nintendo Monopoly.
  • In the Super Mario World credits, an Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro. appears, yet the gray Turn Blocks are replaced with gray Used Blocks.
