In the original, they are exclusive to [[Mario]], and give a [[defense|DEF]] boost of 18 points. They cost 130 coins in the international version, and 125 coins in the Japanese version.
 
In the remake, they can now be worn by both Mario and [[Luigi]], and give a DEF boost of 24 points, as well as a [[Bros. Point|BP]] boost of 6 points. In addition, they now automatically activate the Emergency Guard before an enemy hits the wearer.

The Hard Pants are gear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, available for purchase in the Castle Town Fashion House after defeating the Chuckolator.

In the original, they are exclusive to Mario, and give a DEF boost of 18 points. They cost 130 coins in the international version, and 125 coins in the Japanese version.

In the remake, they can now be worn by both Mario and Luigi, and give a DEF boost of 24 points, as well as a BP boost of 6 points. In addition, they now automatically activate the Emergency Guard before an enemy hits the wearer.
