History[edit]

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[edit]

Sworms are enemies in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake. They are encountered in the outskirts of Beanbean Castle Town. From the overworld, Sworms try to attack by digging into the ground, and then resurfacing at or around Mario and Luigi's current position, giving a warning of where it will pop out by a small patch of dirt in the grass that appears to be vibrating, after which they will pop out of the dirt. If their attack fails, they will burrow back in and try again. In battle, Sworms have two methods of attack: burrowing into the ground and popping out beneath Mario or Luigi, or burrowing underground and popping up in front of Mario or Luigi to bite him. The former method can be countered by jumps, and the latter by Hammers. Sworms are never fought alone, as they are always assisted by Sharpeas.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[edit]

Fawful-like versions of Sworms are enemies in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake. They possess and command Chain Chomps to create Chain Chawfuls. These Sworms are green and order the Chain Chomp they are controlling. The Sworms can be dislodged and eaten with Bowser's vacuum attack, thus freeing the Chain Chomp the Sworm was controlling, although no experience is given. In the remake, inhaling the Sworm restores 30 HP and 10 BP, and gives 25 EXP.
