In the second phase of the [[Whomp King]] battle he will stomp a foot to summon Whimps. After that, the Whimps instantly start chasing after [[Mario]]/[[Luigi]]. Once they get close enough, they fall face-down attempting to crush Mario or Luigi. Lukily, unlike other Whomps, they only take a point of Mario's health and don't give him an instant death. Also, they are more fragile than regular Whomps and break as soon as they attack meaning, to kill them all one of the plumbers has to do if to get a Whimp to attack.

Whimps[1] are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Their name is a portmanteau of "Whomp" and "wimp." They are miniature Whomps that serve a similar role to them as Thwimps do to Thwomps. Unlike normal Whomps, they have only one tooth; their faces are also flatter, their bodies are less rectangular, and they have cubed forearms. They appear in the Throwback Galaxy mission Return of the Whomp King only, assisting the Whomp King in his battle against the player. In the second and third phases of the battle, the Whomp King stomps a foot to make three (five in the third phase) Whimps break off from the ground. After that, the Whimps instantly start chasing after the player. Once they get close enough, they jump and land flat on their faces, attempting to crush Mario or Luigi. All Whimps disappear when the Whomp King tries to crush the player. Whimps are more fragile and less damaging than regular Whomps, taking only a point of the player's health if they land on Mario or Luigi. They also disintegrate after performing an attack, regardless of if they are successful. The player can knock back a Whimp by doing a spin, or defeat it by performing a jump or Ground Pound.
