The Fire and Thunder Gods are two beings that inhabit the Fire and Thunder Palaces in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The Fire God teaches Mario the Firehand move, and the Thunder God teaches Luigi the Thunderhand move. The Gods wear white cloaks and are capable of floating in the air. They have green faces and red mouths. The Fire God's head is the top half of a sun shape. The Thunder God's head is shaped like a moon. The Fire God is forgetful and easygoing, in stark contrast to the Thunder God's no-nonsense attitude. Both gods always appear with a flash of their respective element.

Firebrand and Thunderhand are two beings (described as genies[1] or guardian spirits[2]) that appear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake. They both wear white cloaks, are capable of floating in the air, and always appear in a flash of fire and thunder, respectively. Firebrand's head is styled after a sun, while Thunderhand's head is shaped like a crescent moon. Firebrand is forgetful and easygoing, in contrast with Thunderhand's no-nonsense attitude. Firebrand and Thunderhand inhabit the Fire Palace and Thunder Palace and are the masters of two respective types of Hand Power: the Firebrand, taught to Mario, and the Thunderhand, taught to Luigi.
