Zokkarang Troopers are enemies in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, serving in the Zok Troops. They are first encountered on Color-Full Sea, Great Lighthouse Island, and later found on Bulbfish Island, Heatfreeze Island, the Brrrning Sea, Great Lighthouse Island and Fortress Zokket. Zokkarang Troopers are white in color and wield Zokkarangs, gold spiky circular boomerangs whose names are a pun on "Zokket" and "boomerang", their heads resemble an HDMI connector and they will throw their Zokkarangs at Mario and Luigi if the Bros. approach them on the overworld.
Later on in the game, Zokkarang Troopers get infected with Glohm, becoming Glohm Zokkarang Troopers.
Battle[edit]
In battle, Zokkarang Troopers have two standard attacks, but depending on what other enemies are with them, they can gain three more attacks:
- By themselves, Zokkarang Troopers can throw their Zokkarangs at Mario or Luigi, before curving to the other character and returning to the attacker. Sometimes the Zokkarang Trooper can perform another attack afterwards. This attack is avoided by jumping. Landing on the Zokkarang when it returns will cause it to bounce on the ground and damage the attacking Zokkarang Trooper.
- Zokkarang Troopers can lean back before throwing a Zokkarang, in which it will bounce on the ground and recoil back to damage the attacker. This attack is dodged by jumping; landing on the Zokkarang will hurt Mario or Luigi.
- If a Spike Zok Trooper is also in the battle, both enemies will get in front of Mario and Luigi. Afterwards, both of them will throw their weapons at the same time. The Spike Zok Trooper throws their spike directly at a bro, while the Zokkarang Trooper throws their Zokkarang in an arc. Both projectiles must be defended against with the hammer, and countering them will send them right back at the attackers.
- If there is a Ring Zok Trooper, the Ring Zok Trooper can create light blocks above Mario and Luigi, while the Zokkarang Trooper spins, preparing to throw the Zokkarang at a character. The Bros. must jump to dodge. The blocks must be broken by striking them as to allow the attack to be avoided. The thrown Zokkarang will fly to the other character if the first one dodges it. If both Mario and Luigi avoid the attack, the Zokkarang will strike the attacking enemies.
- If a Jet Zok Trooper is around, the Jet Zok Trooper can carry the Zokkarang Trooper in front of Mario or Luigi, where it will throw multiple Zokkarangs at the closest character, then returning from behind the other Bro. After each throw, the Jet Zok Trooper might move up and down, affecting the elevation of the Zokkarangs. This attack is avoided by jumping; High Zokkarangs must not be jumped over.
Zokkarang Troopers also appear after Weeping Troopers are defeated. They walk off the screen afterwards, sometimes tossing a Max Mushroom to instantly heal Mario or Luigi 200 HP as thanks for freeing them.
