Merrygo Island is a major location in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Its name comes from the merry-go-round, a type of amusement attraction. First found on the Color-Full Sea, it is the sixth island to be linked to Shipshape Island. The island is mainly comprised of an enormous maze, with two rotating walls controlled by the two buttons located at the center of the maze, and the rest area west of the maze respectively. In order to traverse through the maze and reach the exit, Luigi must utilize Luigi Logic and separate from Mario to control the rotating maze walls while Mario use the lookout towers to survey the maze and plan a route. After linking it to Shipshape Island, the bloomed Connectar Flowers provide a shortcut directly to the end of the maze, as well as an ! Block that control two sets of doors in the maze, allowing the player to more easily traverse the maze.

History[edit]

Background[edit]

According to the residents of the island, the designer of the maze is none other than Technikki herself, having constructed it for an unknown reason, and set up a workshop at its exit. It is also implied that it had existed before the fifth match of the Geniuses Competitions, as its award ceremony was held near the island lighthouse, with the furnishing unchanged compared to its current form. Judging from the terrain at the island's border, it is likely that prior to the Uni-Tree's demise, it belonged to a desert biome along with other islands of the Color-Full Sea.

Before the start of the game's events, the Uni-Tree withered, causing the continent of Concordia to break apart, isolating the maze and transforming it into a small floating island. Sometime after that, potentially due to being summoned by the Great Conductor, Princess Peach and Starlow were forcibly ejected from the Mushroom Kingdom and dropped off on this island.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership[edit]

Upon returning to Shipshape Island after linking Desolatt Island, Starlow arrived at its beach shore, claiming to have traveled to Concordia along with Princess Peach, and left the island they had resided on, Merrygo Island, to seek help after the invasion of the Snaptors, prompting the Mario Bros. to retrieve Peach.

Though initially misguided by the island residents to seek out another pink, charming girl, the bros. eventually met with the local genius inventor and the designer of the island's defense system, Technikki, in the fountain plaza at the end of the maze. There she pledged to assist the residents of Shipshape, and pointed the brothers to the princess's actual whereabouts — Near the lighthouse of the island, where she was swarmed by enemies, requiring the Mario Bros. to rescue her once more. After ensuring the princess's safety, the brothers successfully linked the island to Shipshape.

Later on, while collecting bonds for the Bonding Can to break through the Soli-Tree's barrier, Mario and Luigi pursued Groovemaster Dyode and his apprentice, Emmit, as they go on a cross-island tour before briefly stopping at Merrygo Island. Dyode had made use of the height provided by the maze's central lookout tower, and performed there alongside the Bros. before moving on to Jellyfish Island.

Enemies[edit]

After Reclusa awakens, the enemies are replaced with Glohm versions of themselves.
