They all cheer before they run over to their respective flagpoles nearby and stand in front of them, with their hands on the wheel handles.

Players compete to crank their flagpole to the top first, and whoever does so wins, also showing fireworks behind the castle. In ''Mario Party 8'', if nobody fulfills the objective by five minutes, it is a tie.  
The four players must crank their flagpoles by swinging {{button|wii|wiimote}} in circles or by turning the crank on the Touch Screen by using {{button|3ds|stylus}}. The first one to get the flag to the top is the winner. In ''Mario Party 8'', if no one gets their flag to the top within five minutes, the minigame ends in a tie.  


This minigame also appears in ''The Top 100''{{'}}s Decathlon as the sixth minigame.
The ending in ''Mario Party 8'' focuses on the characters doing their winning and losing animations accordingly.

Crank to Rank is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 8 and Mario Party: The Top 100.

The opening shows the four players cheering in front of Peach's Castle before putting their hands on the wheel handles at their respective flagpole.

Players compete to crank their flagpole to the top first, and whoever does so wins, also showing fireworks behind the castle. In Mario Party 8, if nobody fulfills the objective by five minutes, it is a tie.

The ending in Mario Party 8 focuses on the characters doing their winning and losing animations accordingly.

It is the sixth minigame of Decathlon in Mario Party: The Top 100.
