Mario Party Superstars:

Goomba Spotting is a Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9 and Mario Party Superstars. Like Goomba Village, this is a Goomba-counting minigame.

Introduction[edit]

Two Goombas run across the player's field of vision. The camera backs up and changes its angle slightly.

Gameplay[edit]

Players try to count the number of Goombas as accurately as possible by pressing A Button for every Goomba they see. As Goombas run across the screen, they are sometimes stacked on top of each other. Buzzy Beetles might occasionally run across the screen or be present in a stack of Goombas, which may distract the player from counting the Goombas, as Buzzy Beetles are not counted in the correct tally. After all the Goombas and Buzzy Beetles have run across the screen, the players have three seconds to add any more Goombas to their tallies. The player with the closest tally to the correct tally, or any player that has the correct tally, wins.

Ending[edit]

All the Goombas are gathered in a field and jump one by one as they are counted, until all of them have been tallied.

Controls[edit]

Mario Party 9[edit]

  • "Hold the Wii Remote vertically. Press A Button once for each Goomba you count."

Mario Party Superstars[edit]

  • Single Joy-Con Right Button – Count +1

In-game text[edit]

Mario Party 9[edit]

  • Rules"Try to accurately count the number of Goombas that run across the screen. Be careful you don't count other creatures in your tally."

Mario Party Superstars[edit]

  • "Count the number of Goombas that run by. Be careful, because once you've decided on your count, you can't change it."
