Electrodrome is the third race course of the Star Cup in Mario Kart 8. ==Music==
Like some courses from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, the music has different layers depending on the location of the player. Driving on the parts of the course representing electronic instruments causes effects to be added to the music, and when racing through areas that feature a crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys, hand claps (as well as the Shy Guys' voices) become audible. This track has the most channels of music in the game, having eight different channels due to the base music, first place beats, electronic instruments, and the crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys. This number of music channels is tied with other tracks, including <small>3DS</small> Music Park.

Trivia
Trivia
*During the countdown to the race, the large screen in the background shows a spectrum analyzer before switching to a party scene. This spectrum analyzer is the same one seen in the third trailer that first showed Electrodrome.
*In the Prima Guide for Mario Kart 8, "Electrodrome" is misspelled as "Electrodome". The book itself is not consistent, however, as starting from the Time Trials page the course's name is spelled correctly.
**This also makes Electrodrome one of four courses with an opening animation that can be used only during the countdown (as the spectrum analyzer is in sync with the countdown). The others are Twisted Mansion, Bowser's Castle, and Excitebike Arena.
*Characters' idle animations are slightly quicker in Electrodrome and <small>3DS</small> Music Park compared to other courses. However, this only occurs during Grand Prix and local VS mode.
*This track's music is played during the staff credits.
*Many large screens throughout the whole track show some dancing Koopa Troopas and Shy Guys, along with a silhouette of a disc jockey.
**The actual camera angle showed by each screen appears to be chosen randomly between at least two possible angles, one of them reveal that the disc jockey is indeed Larry Koopa .
*Similar to Music Park, Electrodrome has several panels, that when driven over, make up several ascending beats.
*This is one of two courses in Mario Kart 8 with a portion of the track which activates a voice, the other being Big Blue.
*On the Prima Guide to Mario Kart 8, the book has a typo where "Electrodrome" is spelled "Electrodome". When the reader gets to the Time Trials page after N64 Rainbow Road, there are no typos with Electrodrome.
*Electrodrome is so far the only course in the Mario Kart series with one word in its name. (Excluding French and Portugese language translations)

Electrodrome is the third race course of the Star Cup in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is set in a neon-lit nightclub filled with Koopa Troopas, Shy Guys, and Raving Piranha Plants. Banners with the Star Cup logo can be seen throughout the track, as well as some big screens displaying characters dancing, spectrum analyzers, and the MKTV logo. The course's English name comes from "electro", a genre of music, and the suffix "-drome", meaning race course; it is so far the only race course in the Mario Kart series to have a one-word English name, and one of only two courses in general with this distinction (the other being Skyscraper, a battle course from Mario Kart 64).

Course layout[edit]

Electrodrome, from Mario Kart 8.
The course as seen from the starting line

The course starts directly in front of a Glide Ramp. After the racers glide down to the road below, there is a turn going left. Shortly after the turn, there is an anti-gravity area curving to a wall that soon splits into two roads, one pink and one green. In the area where the music changes, transparent squares of the road's color appear in the edge of the screen. The roads twist around each other before connecting. At the end of each road is a Glide Ramp leading to a large neon platform with the words "Star Cup" on it, as well as the cup’s logo. There is a small jump at the end of the platform and a left turn that leads to the finish line.

Many large screens throughout the whole course show two videos of dancing Koopa Troopas and Shy Guys, along with a silhouette of Larry as a disc jockey.[1] During the countdown to the race, the large screen in the background shows a spectrum analyzer before switching to the dancing footage. The analyzer goes in that order: blue, yellow, red, and rainbow. This also makes Electrodrome one of six courses with an opening animation during the countdown, with the others being Twisted Mansion, Mount Wario, Bowser's Castle, Excitebike Arena and Piranha Plant Cove. Stylized ? Blocks can be seen around the course below some of the giant screens.

Shortcuts[edit]

 • Players can cut off the turn before the anti-gravity section using a speed boost. This shortcut is best done with a Star.
 • At the final left turn, players can cut through the rough section with a speed boost instead of taking the turn.

Music[edit]

Like some courses from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, the music has different layers depending on the location of the player. Driving on the parts of the course representing electronic instruments causes effects to be added to the music, and when racing through areas that feature a crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys, hand claps (as well as the Shy Guys' voices) become audible. This track has the most channels of music in the game, having eight different channels due to the base music, first place beats, electronic instruments, and the crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys. This number of music channels is tied with other tracks, including 3DS Music Park.

An arrangement of the course's theme plays during the pre-ride instruction video for Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge.
