So, do you want to write for The 'Shroom? Well, you've come to the right place! Here are some steps that you should follow if you want to start writing for the paper.
*If you need to stray from the release schedule you agreed to when applying for any reason (such as going on vacation or handling an emergency off of the wiki), be sure to contact the Core 'Shroom Staff member that you submit your sections to: we will work something out.
*If you cannot submit your section for that month, but you have a reliable friend who can fill in for you, then absolutely ask them to provide us with a section in your stead and inform your relevant team director of the arrangement.
*Feel free to suggest new section ideas or even apply for an already filled position, for we don't mind two different perspectives on a similar subject.
*If you have any more questions about signing up and writing for The 'Shroom, please contact Meta Knight.

The application form is as follows:

{| align="center" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=4 style="width:60%; background:none; border-spacing: 0 1px;" class=test

| style="background-color: rgba(255,0,0,0.4); border-radius: 25px;" |

1.) Which position would you like to apply for?

2.) Writers have the choice to submit sections monthly, bi-monthly (every other month), or volunteer-based (one-time submission). Please select which section plan you would like to observe.

__NOTOC__
3.) The staff reserves the right to remove writers from their position if their actions reflect badly on The 'Shroom. Actions like these include extensive misbehavior on any part of the community. Do you accept this condition?

! <font style="position: relative; top: .3em; font-size: 200%;"><center><span style="color:#007">Sign Up</span></center></font>
4.) Please write a full-length demo of your section. That way, we can have a bit of your work to decide if you can be on the team. Your demo section and all sections that follow must comply with our policies in the Manual of Style. Failure to do so may result in the immediate rejection of your demo.

So, do you want to write for The 'Shroom? Well, you've come to the right place! Here are some steps that you should follow if you want to start writing for the paper.
Please privately send your complete application to our Statistics Manager through the forums, Discord, or other means you can work out with the Statistics Manager. The Core Staff will have a week to review your application, and you will receive your results within a couple of days after the week passes. For sections which do not require you to sign up, you may send your section directly to the relevant team director. Team directors reserve the right to reject any sections which do not meet the minimum standards of quality outlined in The 'Shroom Manual of Style.
*Contact the Director (Super Mario Bros.) so he decides whether you are fit to write for The 'Shroom or not.

**If you plan on writing for a Sub-team (Fake News, Fun Stuff, Music & Artwork, or Pipe Plaza); please contact the Director (or one of the Co-directors, in some cases) of the sub-team you wish to work for as opposed to the Director or Sub-director of The 'Shroom.
In addition, if you're more inclined to contribute art to the paper, rather than writing, we offer opportunities for users to sign up to a call list of volunteer artists who may be contacted if The 'Shroom needs extra assets for, for instance, special issues. If you're interested, please read this forum thread for more information, then contact the Design Manager, let them know you would like to sign up, and let them know what kind of art you're most interested in making! If you aren't looking to become a volunteer artist, but still want to share art through the paper, we offer a no sign-up required section for community art in our Palette Swap team.
*Whether you want to write a main section or a section for a sub-team, Core Staff members require you have an "interview" with the Director of each team. In a nutshell, you pretty much fill out a questionnaire that the Core Staff member requires you to.

**The interviews should not be confusing: they are relatively straightforward. Most of these interviews will require you to answer a few questions about yourself as a user (if you have been blocked, if you have ever written for The 'Shroom, etc.), as well as to see if you're the person the staff of The 'Shroom is looking for. The Core Staff doesn't want articles like "Hi I'm so-and-so okay bye," or "high eye am a usre off teh supre mario wikki!!!!" We want sections with acceptable length and quality.
</div>
*No articles that cover fake content (what we mean by this is content that a user makes up) will be accepted (there is an obvious exception: the articles of the Fake News section will obviously contain fan-made or other non-official material).

*If you are not certain on what to write for The 'Shroom, simply contact the Director or Sub-director: they will have a discussion with the rest of the leading staff of the paper to find out which section they feel would suit you best.
<div class="shroomsection">
*Although being late once or twice is acceptable, we expect that when you sign up for The 'Shroom, you will submit your section every month.
Directing Staff
**If you, for whatever reason, need to stray from the standard monthly release schedule (such as going on vacation, handling an emergency off of the wiki, or going on a bi-monthly writing plan); be sure to contact the Core 'Shroom Staff member that you submit your sections to: we'd be happy to try and work something out.
The following is a list only of those staff members who directly handle sections of The 'Shroom. For a complete list of all Core 'Shroom Staff members, please refer to our contact page.
*Formerly, users were allowed to edit the archived articles of past 'Shroom issues. This is not accepted anymore, as each page is protected so that vandalism attacks stay as far away from The 'Shroom as possible. If you notice an error on one of the archived sections, feel free to contact one of The 'Shroom staff members or a Sysop to try and fix the error you have spotted.
*For those of you who wish to write multiple articles for The 'Shroom: please be aware that we have a limit on the amount of sections you can take. You can take a maximum of 2 sections on each part of The 'Shroom.
**To further explain this, you may write 2 main 'Shroom sections and 2 sections for each sub-team.
*If you have any more questions about signing up and writing for The 'Shroom, please contact the Director of The 'Shroom.

Example Sections
This is a selection of sections which have been featured in Fake News in the past and typify the content found in the team. The editions of these sections featured as examples have been selected because they reflect the scope of Fake News' goals and content as a team, but you do not have to follow these sections exactly in tone and style, formatting, content, or coverage. You can either apply to write your own version of these sections or use them as inspirations for a new or modified section.

So, do you want to write for The 'Shroom? Well, you've come to the right place! Here are some steps that you should follow if you want to start writing for the paper.

 • If you need to stray from the release schedule you agreed to when applying for any reason (such as going on vacation or handling an emergency off of the wiki), be sure to contact the Core 'Shroom Staff member that you submit your sections to: we will work something out.
 • If you cannot submit your section for that month, but you have a reliable friend who can fill in for you, then absolutely ask them to provide us with a section in your stead and inform your relevant team director of the arrangement.
 • Feel free to suggest new section ideas or even apply for an already filled position, for we don't mind two different perspectives on a similar subject.
 • If you have any more questions about signing up and writing for The 'Shroom, please contact Meta Knight.

The application form is as follows:

1.) Which position would you like to apply for?

2.) Writers have the choice to submit sections monthly, bi-monthly (every other month), or volunteer-based (one-time submission). Please select which section plan you would like to observe.

3.) The staff reserves the right to remove writers from their position if their actions reflect badly on The 'Shroom. Actions like these include extensive misbehavior on any part of the community. Do you accept this condition?

4.) Please write a full-length demo of your section. That way, we can have a bit of your work to decide if you can be on the team. Your demo section and all sections that follow must comply with our policies in the Manual of Style. Failure to do so may result in the immediate rejection of your demo.

Palette Swap

PaletteSwapPortrait.png
"I have been promised food in exchange for describing this part of the paper, so here we go! First, the name "Palette Swap" is being grievously misused; there is no actual swapping of color palettes going on here. What this actually is about is showcasing and discussing arts and crafts. From glorious paint masterworks, to music, to the written word, and somesuch... All manner of art is exhibited and discussed here. It's like one of those galas where they stand around babbling about the newest painting collection or symphony, only without the guy walking around handing out snacks. Speaking of which..."

Pipe Plaza

PipePlazaPortrait.png
"Well met! What we have here appears to be a factual news and information conglomerate. Announcements, statistics, general information about any topic... All of it appears to be here, hoo. Factual content and overviews characterize this sample of the paper. If you're a restless youngster with nary a care, you might find this part of the newspaper rather dry and stuffy. But once you get to be my age, you will appreciate being well-informed. Anyhoo, I'm unsure where the pipes come in. Maybe the idea is to evoke thoughts of information shooting around in pneumatic tubes? What tomfoolery, though I guess it provides some levity."

Critic Corner

CriticCornerPortrait.png
"Fine! FINE! I'll explain the gimmick to this section! Though the genius of Critic Corner defies explanation... First, you must have an opinion! It can encompass essentially anything you desire, be it games, movies, books, hair salons, pieces of furniture, cats... All is fair as long as you can make it interesting! Then, you must line this opinion of yours up with good sources and information... and SPLART! You have yourself an exquisite column within Critic Corner! Just be sure to explain why your opinion is the way it is, so you don't just ramble incoherently like a lunatic! TA-DAH!"
