The 'Shroom:Issue 205/Fun Stuff
Director's Notes
Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome to this April edition of Fun Stuff! It's already April, oh no! Even as we rip and tear through this new year, Fun Stuff remains steadfast and committed to bringing you all some extra joy. Of course, every April starts with April Fool's, and as a clown myself, it's important that I bring the celebration to the office! Please don't mind the feathers covering the wall. One of my bits didn't go as planned.
All jokes aside, Fun Stuff is fuller and brighter than ever! This month, we've got the premiere of two brand-new sections! First, everyone welcome ViableBunnyBudd into his first 'Shroom writing gig! His new section, Hint Art, will be focused on your 3D Mario knowledge, so make sure to check it out. Then, at the end of the page, you'll find the shiny, spectacular 'Shroom Quiz! This recurring section has been headed by Hooded Pitohui (talk), but be prepared as other writers cycle through and offer their own quizzes! How much do you know last month's 'Shroom issue? Tune in to find out!
The flowers are really starting to bloom, and Fun Stuff blooms alongside them! Please, take a second to relax, stop, and smell the roses.
... Not me, the, the proverbial ones.

Anagrams
Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)
Hi everyone, welcome to this month's edition of anagrams! This month, I thought I'd tango for a bit of a more obscure game- if the pun hadn't already clued you in, it's Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix! I hope you have a ball solving these anagrams. If you fancy suggesting a theme, or perhaps a Mario-related anagram I could use for next month, please let me know on my talk page or in a PM to me on the forums, I'd really love to hear from you. OK, you can foxtrot on with these anagrams now!
How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!
1. MY SKI CUE
2. DEMO HUMS
3. GIANT WARRIORS
4. CORN LEGISLATOR
5. MACHO BOA GAWK
6. FLOWER SET TURF
7. UNCONSIDERED TACT
8. KNIT MY DRYERS
9. CUMIN WADS
10. IMPEACH ASH CONCH
11. POP ORB LOBE
Bonus anagram:
- Music Key
- Mush Mode
- Starring Wario!
- Rollercoasting
- Whack-a-Goomba
- Truffle Towers
- Destruction Dance
- Mystery Drink
- Music Wand
- Chain Chomp Chase
- Blooper Bop
Bonus anagram: Hammer Dance
Word Search
Hello and welcome back to another thrilling Word Search! A section where you find various words from a topic usually involving Mario! This month, aliens have invaded, as this month's Word Search is all about Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, a very good video game where aliens fight babies. For some reason it was skipped over during Alphadream's "oh god please one of these games make money" phase. But it's not getting skipped over for a Word Search!!! Words can be found vertically, horizontally, diagonally, and backwards (especially backwards)! As always have fun and stay safe!
Crossword
Written by: MarioMorty (talk)
Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Crosswords, brought to you by me, MarioMorty. This month's theme is some of the main characters of the WarioWare series. Nothing much else for me to say, so see y'all next time in May!
Hiding Koopa
Written by: Waluigi Time (talk)
More new games! Princess Peach: Showtime! came out last month, the first starring role for Princess Peach in almost 2 decades! (Yes, Super Princess Peach is that old now. I apologize if you remember when it was newly released.) Anyway, new games means new Hiding Koopa, except when it doesn't, I guess. Sorry Super Mario RPG and WarioWare: Move It!. But this time it does! Five Koopas are hiding in this artwork from the game. Hopefully you enjoy this because I'll be re-releasing it in a future issue with no changes except for a slightly different face on the Koopas for no apparent reason. Gotta do what Nintendoes, after all.
Thanks for playing! Did you find them all?
Hint Art
Written by: ViableBunnyBudd (talk)
Hello 'Shroom readers, I present to you the first edition of Hint Art written by me, ViableBunnyBudd! I've had this idea for a while now, and I'm happy to finally share it with you!
So here's how it works: I have picked a location somewhere in the game. This is NOT the location of an existing star in the game; it is a custom location! I then made some art that abstractly represents this location in some way. It is now up to you, the reader, to decipher what this art means and to grab this imaginary star at this location! It's just like the rules of the Hint Arts from Super Mario Odyssey, only it's done for other 3D Marios. Most of these will be ground-pound stars like in Odyssey, but if I'm feeling creative I might have these imaginary stars in the air or activated by punching a wall.
For this first issue, I decided to pick a spot in Super Mario 64, fittingly the first of the 3D Marios. Dust off those N64 cartridges or equivalent and try to figure out the first ever Shroom Hint Art!
GAME: Super Mario 64
STAR TYPE: Floating in the air
Dark, dusty, and dangerous.
Thanks for playing! (Unless you just skipped to the conclusion, in which case no thanks for not playing.) Let me know what you think of this section in the forums going forward - I'd love to hear your feedback!
Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?
Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!
You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!
Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.
Challenge round (optional):
-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less
-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help
“Gumshoe, we’ve got a new case for you to get to work on. With the coming of a new sports season, many of the athletes of the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond have started to practice for various outdoor sports, which leads us to our crime today. Four specific athletes, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser, and Donkey Kong, have requested your help to find their sports equipment, from golf clubs to tennis rackets to boxing gear. The list is quite long, gumshoe, and it does not escape our notice that all of the requesting clients have had disagreements with Mario and co. at various points in the past. We are investigating to see if the culprit has any ties to Carmen, but for now, your objective is to get all that equipment back so our clients can get back on the field and resume their practice. It’s time to take the court and solve this case, gumshoe!”

“Good work, gumshoe! Not only did you solve the crime, but your quick thinking with the Wealth Suckage Apparatus caught our crook red-handed! He had the entire cache of sports equipment on him, so we can successfully return everything to your clients. We have him in custody now, for questioning, so if he is one of Carmen’s cronies, we’ll find out. You’ve done good work today, gumshoe. Donkey Kong and Bowser provided a reward up front for your efforts, and Wario and Waluigi will send some payment after their equipment is fully returned, but don’t get your hopes up too high. We’ve deposited your current coin reward into your account, so it’s time for you to get back to the office and get started on your write-up of this case. We’ll keep you in touch for your next case, gumshoe.”
