The 'Shroom:Issue 188/Fun Stuff
Director's Notes
Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome into the Fun Stuff office, where we're all right and cozy for a brisk autumn season. Scarves and blankets, warm mugs and warm hearths... With winter looming ahead, what more could you ask for than the simple indoor pleasures?
Things have been shaking up recently in Roserade Land! Not only is college in full swing, but I'm participating in a show where I am performing as a clown. Yes, a real clown. Soon, I shall be the entire circus.
My personal life isn't the only thing that's shaking up this month, though, because we have two great new sections joining our team! Waluigi Time (talk) is debuting the return of the much-beloved section Hiding Koopa, once delivered by the great Ninja Squid (talk), so make sure to spot those half-shelled hooligans! In addition, The Shamancer (talk) is moving into our offices with a brand new section, Poetry Puzzle! If you know me, you know I love poetry, so I'm remarkably excited to have this section in our repertoire. Make sure to give it a read, and give it a SOTM vote if you enjoyed it!
Ah, the tea kettle's going off! Did you know that it's quite easy to make rose-infused tea when you're a Roserade? That might be a shock, but it's true! Here, let me pour you a cup. Feel free to bring it with you while you dive right into what Issue 188 has in store for you! Take care!
Section of the Month
Congratulations to WildWario (talk) for placing first in our October poll! Further kudos go to FunkyK38 (talk) and Mustard Machine (talk) for second and third place respectively. Be sure to vote vote vote for your favorite sections!

Anagrams
Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)
Hello everyone, welcome to the November edition of anagrams! This month, the theme for the anagrams is Mario Kart 8 nitro courses (yes, that does include the DLC). If you'd like to suggest a theme for next month's section, feel free to do so on my talk page or in a PM to me on the forums, and I'd love to hear any funny Mario-related anagrams that you've come across that I could make use of too. And now I'll let you race onto these anagrams.
How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!
1. GLUE BIB
2. TOWNSHIP RUM
3. I HURRY ICE CULT
4. CREDULOUS TOPIC
5. WRAP TAKER
6. MASSACRING LION
7. I OMIT NEWSSTAND
8. LET ME CORRODE
9. OH DO SPLASH NIL
10. OUTWORN AIM
11. CUT MY TIE
12. FRYING DOT AWARD
Bonus anagram:
- Big Blue
- Thwomp Ruins
- Hyrule Circuit
- Cloudtop Cruise
- Water Park
- Animal Crossing
- Twisted Mansion
- Electrodrome
- Dolphin Shoals
- Mount Wario
- Mute City
- Dragon Driftway
Bonus anagram: Bone-Dry Dunes
Word Search
Written by: Mustard Machine (talk)
Hello Fun Stuff readers, and welcome to another amazing and creative Word Search. This month's Word Search is about the Animal Friends, a great feature from the original Donkey Kong Country series that has sadly been neglected in the modern games. This month's puzzle is a little trickier than the last few. Words can be found vertically, horizontally, backwards, and within other words. As always, have fun stay safe!
Crossword
Written by: MarioMorty (talk)
Hello ladies and gents, it's me, MarioMorty, coming at you with another edition of Crosswords. This month's theme is Nintendo 64 games. Maybe in this issue there's an order to the answers, or maybe you'll just get them all right anyway. But without further ado, enjoy this issue of Crosswords, and happy November.
Hiding Koopa
Written by: Waluigi Time (talk)
Uh oh, those sneaky Koopas are at it again... Welcome back to Hiding Koopa, now under new management! There's five Koopas for you to find today in this artwork from the latest Mario game, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope! I sure hope you can find them all!
Thanks for playing! Did you find them all? I've got some intel that the Koopas are looking for good spots to hide on the racetrack for our Holiday Special next month, so keep your eyes peeled!
Poetry Puzzle
Written by: The Shamancer (talk)
A puzzle mystifying the most//Answer not by the note//but through others thine
Translation: Hello, The ‘Shroom readers! Let me explain how this works. I recite a poem, then YOU search for clues and try to figure out the poem’s subject! Let’s get started!
Guess the Character!
Carry us to higher sights//such loyal beast of the jungle//listen to the beat
Guess the Location!
Round ‘n round the lizard//never ending, never stops//forming a most familiar face
Guess the Object!
Ah, such a reliable tool//sealing off many tunnels of green//protected by plants and rodents alike
We shall part until meet//together again//best of hopes
See you next time!
Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?
Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!
You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!
Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.
Challenge round (optional):
-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less
-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help
“Gumshoe, get your notes ready, we’ve got another case for you to get started on! Carmen has sent a team of agents out to snatch a collection of Smash amiibos from the Mushroom Kingdom Museum. Their set is the most complete of any set in the Mushroom Kingdom, and the exhibit draws many visitors to the museum. But more importantly than just the lost revenue from the exhibit, Carmen will have an army of amiibo fighters at her command to do her bidding- would you want to protect your things against half the Smash roster at level 50? I know I wouldn’t! It’s time to set off, gumshoe, and best of luck!”

“Good work, gumshoe! We found Carmen’s team tangled up in the yarn of the castle. It looks like she forgot to send along some scissors so they could make a swift getaway with the amiibos. Either way, you’ve solved yet another case. The museum sends their thanks, and they’ve also sent you a Mario amiibo from the Mario Party set as a reward for you. We’ve deposited your usual fee in your account, and I’ve personally deposited some paperwork that you need to catch up on on your desk, so it’s back to work for you, gumshoe!”
Musical Quiz
Hi, I'm WildWario, and this is Musical Quiz. This game is simple, just listen to the music and guess where it comes from. The answers can be found at the bottom of the list. This time, there's no specific theme, so try your very best to guess the questions correctly.

Trivia
Written by: Mustard Machine (talk)
Something weird happened this month. Instead of taking all month to write Trivia, I wrote it very early, which is strange! This month's Trivia as well as Word Search and even my power-up review have a subtle theme that only the smartest will figure out. But while you're trying to solve the puzzle, did you know?
- That Quawks is the only animal friend in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! who doesn’t appear in Dixie Kong's Photo Album?
- That in Coral Capers, it’s possible to have two Enguarde’s on screen at once?
- That Winky the Frog is the only animal friend from Donkey Kong Country not to appear outside Donkey Kong Country (excluding cameos)?
- That Collapsing Clouds is the only level in Donkey Kong Land to feature Expresso outside of a bonus level?
- That despite appearing on the box art of Donkey Kong Land 2 and the level featuring his name being in the game, Glimmer doesn’t actually appear in the game?
- That Donkey Kong Land 2 is the only Donkey Kong Land game that doesn’t have a unique story, instead having the same story as Donkey Kong Country 2?
- That according to the instructional booklet for Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Rattly the Rattlesnake is actually a native of Crocodile Isle rebelling against the Kremling Krew?
- That Kudgel is the only boss from Donkey Kong Country 2 to not appear in Donkey Kong Land 2?
