Dangling Ghosts[1] are enemies encountered in World 5 of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Resembling Caged Ghosts, they swing back and forth on the ceiling similarly to a pendulum, in an attempt to hit a Yoshi or Baby Mario. If they succeed, they will grab and hold Baby Mario in their jaws, leading to him needing to be rescued. They can be stopped temporarily using the usual method (spitting another enemy at them or shooting an egg), and they retract, allowing the player to pass through. After a few seconds, they return to their constant swinging back and forth.

Dangling Ghosts also appear in Yoshi's New Island, particularly in Ready, Steady, Go! They have the same behavior as before, except they do not retract when hit and instead stop where they are. They are also an off-white color.

Profiles[edit]

Yoshi's Island series[edit]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island / Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

  • Shogakukan guide: 天井からぶら下がっていて、赤ちゃんをさらおうとする。タマゴをぶつけると、ちょっとおとなしくなる。[2] (It hangs from the ceiling and tries to snatch the baby. If you hit it with an egg, it becomes docile for a bit.)
  • Player's Guide: Another homebody without much of a body, the Dangling Ghost doesn't like to get egg on his face.[1]
  • Shogakukan guide (Game Boy Advance version): 天井からぶら下がっていて、赤ちゃんをさらおうとする。タマゴをぶつけると、少しの間おとなしくなる。[3] (It hangs from the ceiling and tries to snatch the baby. If you hit it with an egg, it becomes docile for a little while.)

Yoshi's New Island[edit]

  • Shogakukan guide: 天井にぶら下がって振り子のように揺れ、近づくとかみついてくる。タマゴを当てるとしばらく動かなくなるので、その間に通過しよう。倒すことはできない。[4](It hangs from the ceiling, swinging like a pendulum, and bites you when you approach it. If you hit it with an egg, it will stop moving for a while, so try to pass by it during that time. It cannot be defeated.)
