Deku Babas are a crossover species from The Legend of Zelda series. The only time they appear in the Super Mario franchise is as an obstacle in Mario Kart 8's The Legend of Zelda x Mario Kart 8 downloadable pack and the base game of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Here, two Deku Babas appear as enemies in a section of Hyrule Circuit, after the exit of Hyrule Castle near the end of the course; they are designed after their appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and they behave the same as Piranha Plants do in GCN Yoshi Circuit.
