P Blocks are objects in Super Mario Maker 2 that can be placed in every level style. Similar to ON/OFF Switches, they are activated or deactivated whenever the player hits a P Switch; they are outlined when deactivated, and when activated, they become solid blocks that cannot be destroyed by any means. Due to the effect being temporary, the blocks operate in a similar way to the Dotted-Line Blocks from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its sequels.
In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, P Blocks appear in a single room in the level The Midway Trial: Hop to It, where they are yellow, but do not have the letter "P" printed onto them; this is because they are instead activated by a ! Switch.
Prior to the P Block's debut, in Super Mario World, some Hidden Blocks can be revealed only by pressing Blue P-Switches, making them similar to P Blocks.
