Shy Guy Tents[1] are objects that appear in Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Kart Tour.

History

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

Sprite of a Shy Guy Tent from Mario Kart: Super Circuit

In Mario Kart: Super Circuit, three Shy Guy Tents are dotted as obstacles throughout Sunset Wilds near some Dash Panels. They do not move on their own, and only affect racers if they run into them. If a racer touches them, the tent breaks open and a Shy Guy with paint marks jumps onto the racer. The Shy Guy then takes away several of the racer's coins before hopping off. Shy Guy Tents respawn shortly after being hit.

Shy Guy Tents reappear in Mario Kart Tour, due to the Sunset Wilds course making a return. However, unlike in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the tents are redesigned to more resemble prospector tents instead of tipis, and are located on off-road sections of the track. Exploring Shy Guys take their place as obstacles in the actual course.

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version of Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the Shy Guys from the Shy Guy Tents wear headdresses, which can also be seen on the course icon.
