First appearance | Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (1995) |
Latest appearance | Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (2002) |
Variant of | Needlenose |
Cactus Jacks[1] are large beige Needlenoses with a target on their chest. They can be moved if Yoshi throws a Yoshi's egg at them. If they come into contact with anything when rolling, they explode and shoot out coins. Sometimes they are found on tracks, and as such act similar to Fuzzies. Cactus Jacks appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. They are named after politician John "Cactus Jack" Garner.[2] Cactus Jack's English name may also be a reference to Mick Foley's professional wrestling alter-ego.
While Cactus Jacks do not appear during gameplay of Yoshi's New Island, they have an unused model with a set of animations.[3] Its eyes and coloration look more similar to standard Pokeys.
