A humanoid species of jellyfish appears within the game Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its later Nintendo 3DS remake. During the events of the game, a total of three of them appear in Gwarhar Lagoon, and one in the Beanbean Fields outskirts close to the Oho Ocean. They include the Jellyfish Sisters, Gigi and Merri, and two unnamed jellyfish children of opposite genders. The young girl jellyfish dons a red bow and a dress, and acts as a receptionist to the Jellyfish Sisters' Relaxation Room. The young boy jellyfish dons red swimming trunks and indirectly teaches Mario and Luigi how to surf.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, the Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode introduces a fifth child jellyfish, a girl with a purple bow and dress, who acts as an announcer and judge for Wendy O. Koopa's "Cutie Battle Contest".

In the original Game Boy Advance title, their faces are a bright, light purple and in the later Nintendo 3DS port their faces are a blackish-blue.
