Chuckoroks are a species of round, rock-like monsters seen only in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
Mario and Luigi encounter Chuckoroks on their search for the Beanstar Pieces and first encounter them on their return to Chucklehuck Woods. Here, the Mario Bros. enter a small area inhabited solely by the Winkles and are eventually forced to enter Winkle Colosseum in order to receive the Beanstar piece. The brothers play a Chuckola Bounce minigame in the Colosseum which pits them against the Chuckoroks.
Chuckoroks move around in a circular motion and spit Chuckola Rocks at Mario and Luigi; getting hit by a Rock stuns Mario and Luigi on contact. Hitting the Chuckola Rocks with the Chuckola Board turns them blue and sends them back towards their shooters. If the Rock hits a Chuckorok, the Chuckorok is defeated and Mario and Luigi are rewarded with a point. If the brothers catch a Barrier Mushroom, getting hit or manually firing their more-direct barrier at a Chuckorok would also defeat it. After defeating a number of Chuckoroks smaller ones that are harder to hit appear to replace them.
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, the "X"s on top of their heads are replaced by a giant swirl and their eyes are completely black. Their eyes turn red when they spit Chuckola Rocks or Barrier Mushrooms at Mario & Luigi. They are rendered as 3D models rather than a 2D sprite.
Trivia
- The Chuckoroks seem to be based off the enemies Octoroks from The Legend of Zelda series; both shoot rocks and have similar names. The method to damage Chuckoroks in Superstar Saga is also similar to the way Link defeats Octoroks in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: by reflecting the projectile back to the Octorok.
