(I managed to find these in the game I couldn't find their official name in-game other than the obvious colors and sites are just calling them like silver, platinum etc. Since the SMW Grey Coins are also called Silver I am fittingly putting it here for now) |

- This article is about the coin from Super Mario World. For the coins that appear in Diddy Kong Racing, see Silver Coin. For the coin from Wario Land 3, see colored coin.
Gray Coins[1][2], also described as silver coins[3], are coins that appear in Super Mario World. Pressing a Gray P Switch turns all enemies into Gray Coins for a limited time. However, Gray Coins work differently from standard coins in this game; if enough are collected, they give extra lives, similar to jumping on numerous enemies in succession. In certain levels, a trick involving hordes of enemies and a Gray P Switch can be executed to earn dozens of extra lives. This goes in order with collecting Gray Coins:
- 400 - 1 Gray Coin
- 800 - 2 Gray Coins
- 1000 - 3 Gray Coins
- 2000 - 4 Gray Coins
- 4000 - 5 Gray Coins
- 8000 - 6 Gray Coins
- 1UP - 7 Gray Coins
- 2UP - 8 Gray Coins
- 3UP - 9 Gray Coins or more
Grey Coins appear in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour of the Coin Shoot mode. They are worth 40 coins when the ball is near them.
