Ace Coin

Ace Coins[1] are special coins that first appear in the Super Mario Advance remake of Super Mario Bros. 2. Ace Coins are large, red, and sport an "A." Ace Coins could be named because the player needs to collect all five within a level to beat, or "ace" it. While playing a level, when the player obtains all five, they earn an extra life. Ace Coins are often in areas that require some effort to access. If the player replays a level, any Ace Coins that they have collected are transparent, and collecting them again still awards points but does not contribute to the overall total.
Ace Coins are very similar to the Dragon Coins, and similar but differently-colored coins known as Advance Coins appear in World-e of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3.
