Lubba, Super Mario Galaxy 2

Template:Character-infobox

Lubba is an obese, particularly large and sometimes wisecracking purple Luma who appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2. He is the head honcho of the Lumas in the game. He created Starship Mario with his lumas and handed it to Mario. His first ship was destroyed by a few meteors launched by Bowser, which caused all the Lumas on the ship to disperse throughout the galaxy and become separated from one another. Lubba aids and accompanies Mario in his quest to defeat Bowser, making a deal with him that, in return for Mario recovering the Power Stars, he'll help Mario rescue Princess Peach. [1] As the captain of the mobile hub of the game and the leader of the Lumas, he more or less replaces Rosalina of the original Super Mario Galaxy in this respect.

Lubba stands beside Starship Mario´s wheel, ready to dispense useful advice. Whenever Mario returns to the starship after meeting a special goal or unlocking something new, Lubba is right there to give him the full update. Talk to Lubba from time to time to learn more about the starship and the universe it's sailing through. Lubba is a wonderful resource for budding captains.

After the final 242nd Power Star from the Grandmaster Galaxy is collected and Rosalina boards Starship Mario, it is revealed that Lubba has met her before. However, where he first met her is unknown. He thanks Mario for his hard work bringing who he calls "The Lady of the Stars" on board the ship.

Trivia

  • In the opening, when Mario first lands on Starship Mario (which, at the time, was simply a planet struck with meteors that Lubba managed to turn into the starship with the help of the first Power Star), Lubba asks him a pair of questions at one point (the first is the quote). The two answers are "That's right" and "Yes".
  • When a bee boards the Starship Mario, he reveals to Mario that he is allergic.
