Electrodrome
Template:Racecourse Electrodrome is the third race course of the Star Cup in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is set in a neon-lit nightclub filled with Koopa Troopas, Shy Guys, and Raving Piranha Plants. Banners with the Star Cup logo can be seen throughout the track, as well as some big screens displaying characters dancing, spectrum analyzers, and the MKTV logo. As some tracks from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, the music has different layers depending on the location of the player. Driving on the parts of the course representing electronic instruments causes effects to be added to the music, and when racing through areas that feature a crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys, hand claps become audible. This track has the most channels of music in the game, having eight different channels due to the base music, first place beats, electronic instruments, and the crowd of dancing Koopas and Shy Guys. This number of music channels is tied with other tracks, including 3DS Music Park.
Course layout
The course starts directly in front of a gliding panel. After the racers glide down to the road below, there is a turn going left. Shortly after the turn, there is an anti-gravity area curving to a wall that soon splits into two roads, one pink and one green. In the area where the music changes, transparent squares of the road's color appear in the edge of the screen. The roads twist around each other before connecting. At the end of each road is a gliding panel leading to a large neon platform with the words "Star Cup" on it, as well as the cup’s logo. There is a small jump at the end of the platform and a left turn that leads to the finish line.
Many large screens throughout the whole track show two videos of dancing Koopa Troopas and Shy Guys, along with a silhouette of Larry Koopa as a disk jockey.[1].
Shortcuts
- Players can cut off the turn before the anti-gravity section using a speed boost. This shortcut is best done with a Star.
- At the final left turn, players can cut through the rough section with a speed boost instead of taking the turn.
Staff ghost
The staff ghost for this track is Larry on the Sport Bike, with a time of 2:24.747. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 200cc, the staff ghost is Roy with a time of 1:40.943.

Trivia
- During the countdown to the race, the large screen in the background shows a spectrum analyzer before switching to a party scene. This spectrum analyzer is the same one seen in the third trailer that first showed Electrodrome.
- This also makes Electrodrome one of five courses with an opening animation that can be used only during the countdown (as the spectrum analyzer is in sync with the countdown). The others are Twisted Mansion, Mount Wario, Bowser's Castle, and Excitebike Arena.
- On the Prima Guide to Mario Kart 8, the book has a typo where "Electrodrome" is spelled "Electrodome". When the reader gets to the Time Trials page after N64 Rainbow Road, there are no typos with Electrodrome.
- Stylized ? Blocks can be seen around the course below some of the giant screens.
