Special 7
Template:Worldbox Special 7 is the seventh special world appearing in Super Mario 3D Land. The area in the background is pink in color and contains several trees of varying sizes, as well as several scattered plateaus and many flowers near the map itself. There are 6 levels and one Mystery Box.
Levels
Special 7-1
Layout
This level is designed after World 3-4. The player is only given thirty seconds to complete the level, but the Boomerang Bros. scattered throughout the level give the player blue + Clocks when defeated, adding ten seconds to his or her time. The player starts on a snowy platform, landing on a Boomerang Bro. and adding ten seconds to his or her time. Crossing some tightropes takes the player to a large platform with a large tree, a Roulette Block, and two Boomerang Bros. Another tightrope then takes the player to a platform with a Warp Box on it, which in turn takes the player to a platform connected to another by a tightrope. A pair of tightropes then take the player to a platform with another Warp Box and two more Boomerang Bros. The box leads to yet another platform, with a column of tightropes leading up to another platform with a tightrope. A series of tightropes and platforms then take the player to a platform with the Flagpole and a tightrope with a Flying Question Block beneath it.
Star Medals
- Star Medal 1: The Star Medal can be seen floating behind the tree near the beginning of the stage.
- Star Medal 2: After climbing the tightropes, the Star Medal is on the platform to the right.
- Star Medal 3: Below the final platform before the goal, there is a type of Jump Block and the Star Medal.
Special 7-2
Layout
This level is designed after World 6-4. The player is chased by a Cosmic Clone in this level. Mario starts on a wooden platform and must cross a pair of three Beat Blocks divided by a wooden platform to reach another wooden platform with a door on it. Through the door is a large wooden platform, followed by Beat Blocks and another door. Outside are some more Beat Blocks, followed by a series of wooden platforms and some vertical climbing Beat Blocks. After this are some curving Beat Blocks divided by a wooden platform, as well as needing to pass by two Firebars. Next are some more Beat Blocks with chained spiked cylinders to obstruct Mario. On the last wooden platform is a Brick Block containing a Star. The Beat Blocks after this then form a "stairway" leading to the flagpole.
Star Medals
- Star Medal 1: The Star Medal is floating on top of the rectangular Question Block.
- Star Medal 2: The Star Medal is floating next to one of the walls near the end. A wall jump can be used to retrieve it.
- Star Medal 3: The Star Medal is floating above the second to last yellow Beat Block.
Special 7-3
Layout
This level is designed after World 7-4. Mario begins on a grate-like platform and must cross over several rotating gear platforms, one of which containing two Bob-ombs. Additionally, when Mario reaches some of them, Tail Bob-ombs descent from the air. After reaching the final gear platform, Mario must jump onto a swinging platform, then climb up a pole to get onto a rotating platform that the player can use to reach one of three paths. To get to a Warp Box, the player must take the third path, which contains several Fuzzies. The Warp Box takes Mario to a gear platform with the Checkpoint Flag on it. The first gear platform after that has a Magikoopa on it, and jumping on the three after that results in a Tail Bob-omb falling from above. The player must then cross several yellow, rotating platforms with a Monty Mole in the center. Afterward is another grate-like platform with a Bob-omb on it, another yellow, and another vertically rotating platform before the Flagpole.
Star Medals
- Star Medal 1: Near the swinging platform, there are several Wooden Blocks placed together as a platform, with an Exclamation Mark Block on it. Hitting it results in several Platform Blocks forming a path to the Star Medal.
- Star Medal 2: By taking the middle of the three paths that can be reached using the rotating platform, the second Star Medal appears at the end.
- Star Medal 3: On the yellow, horizontally rotating platforms, the one on the top right takes the player to the Star Medal.
Special 7-Mystery Box
The possible contents of this Mystery Box are:
- A golden Mystery Box containing three Question Blocks containing 1-Up Mushrooms, a Question Box, and two Star Medals.
- A golden Mystery Box containing four unlit torches, a Fire Flower, and two Star Medals. Lighting the torches causes 1-Up Mushrooms to appear.
- A golden Mystery Box containing plants, some of which contain 1-Up Mushrooms, and two Star Medals.
Special 7-4
Layout
This level is based upon World 2-4. Throughout the level, the player is chased by a massive Cosmic Clone. The player begins on a wooden platform, and must cross a Reversible Platform to reach the other side. After the wooden platform is another Reversible Platform, followed by another wooden platform, more Reversible Platforms, and yet another large wooden platform with two Stingbies on it. The next Reversible Platforms lead to another large platform. On the first portion of it is a rotating spike bar similar to a Firebar. The next part has several Brick Blocks on it before giving way to a series of Reversible Platforms below, with two spiked bars and several Stinbies. The player must then cross another wooden platform and another small series of Reversible Platforms to reach the flagpole.
Star Medals
- Star Medal 1: The Star Medal is on the blue side of a Reversible Platform next to a row of spikes.
- Star Medal 2: On the wooden platform with several Brick Blocks near the beginning, the Star Medal is floating in midair. It can be reached by using the Flying Question Block.
- Star Medal 3: The second to last series of Reversible Platforms has the Star Medal near the end, on the blue side.
Special 7-5
Layout
The level is an airship level based upon the World 7 Airship. Set in daytime, the player starts on an airship segment and must cross a rotating platform with several Goomba wooden cutouts on it. He or she must then cross another rotating platform with a Flophopper on it. The player must then pass by another Flophopper on an airship and must cross a series of rotating platforms, the only enemies being another Flophopper and a Magikoopa. Next is an airship, followed by another series of rotating platforms, then another large airship. The first two platforms contain six Flophoppers, and the enemies for the rest are Magikoopas. The large airship at the end of this series contains several timers and a Warp Box leading to another airship with the Flagpole on it.
Star Medals
- Star Medal 1: On one of the airship platforms, there is a Flying Question Block and the Star Medal hovering over it.
- Star Medal 2: After the first series of rotating platforms, the Star Medal is floating above a platform in the second series.
- Star Medal 3: On the top portion of the second to last airship, there is a rotating platform with the Star Medal on it.
Special 7-Castle
Layout
This level requires 220 Star Medals to unlock. The player only has 30 seconds to complete the level, as well as being chased by a massive Cosmic Clone. To increase the player's time, there are several blue + Clocks scattered around the area. The level itself is based upon the World 1 Castle. The player begins on an elevated platform, and must cross the lower area, to get to two spinning platforms. The first has several Brick Blocks on it, and the second has a Firebar. The next area is a small platform followed by a wooden platform elevated by a lava geyser. The player must then cross a grate-like platform with several Podoboos near the end. The next area is two platforms connected by a grate platform, with the lower area after the second containing a Firebar. The next area is followed by a platform with a series of Brick Block and pillar hurdles. Afterward is a barren platform, with a + Clock on top of a pillar, followed by several more pillars obstructing the player's path. After all this, the player must cross the bridge and pass by several more pillars to reach a platform with a green + Clock, as well as a room with the Warp Box leading to a tower with the flagpole on it.
Star Medals
- Star Medal 1: The Star Medal is floating on top of a pillar near the lava geyser.
- Star Medal 2: In the area where the Thwomps would normally be, the Star Medal is located inside the indention in the wall.
- Star Medal 3: Near the bridge there are a pair of pillars obstructing the player with the Star Medal floating in midair beside them. It can be reached with a wall jump.
