Template:Newsubject Template:Articleabout Template:Racecourse Mute City is the fourth and final course of the Egg Cup included with The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content in Mario Kart 8. This course is based on the F-Zero series. Coins are not present naturally on this course, and can only be obtained by driving over the recharge pathways, Item Boxes, or picking up the coins dropped by other players.

Course layout

The track is entirely in antigravity, from start to finish, in a futuristic world. Signs throughout the course depict F-Zero racers, Captain Falcon, Samurai Goroh, Dr. Stewart, Pico, and their respective machines. Right of the start, several boost pads and recharge paths can be found. After a U-turn, the track begins to corkscrew before a large jump. Afterward, the track continues on a cylindrical route that continues to twist before another jump leads into a opening in a building. Here, two more recharge paths can be found before the race continues outside. After a few turns, the track becomes a down hill drive past a Rocket and a few signs depicting Captain Falcon before it arrives at the finish.

Trivia

  • This is the only course in Mario Kart 8 so far to take place entirely in anti-gravity.
  • Instead of using the normal starting line countdown and results screen theme, this course uses the F-Zero series equivalent to the themes.
    • The starting line countdown theme only happens during Grand Prix and VS races.
  • One of the signs depicts an artwork of Captain Falcon alongside the text "SHOW ME YOUR MOVES!", a reference to his taunt in the Super Smash Bros. series.
  • Some buildings in Mute City have the name White Cat and the number two on them. This is the name and number of the machine Jody Summer uses in the F-Zero series. Similar looking buildings have the name Great Star which is the name of another racer's machine; Mr. EAD.
  • The desert seen outside Mute City might be a reference to another F-Zero course called Sand Ocean.
