Popping Balloons
Popping Balloons is a Mini Battle from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its reissue, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. Here, a Yoshi has a contest with a Bandit to see who can pop the balloon with the Special Item in it. To pop a balloon, the Yoshi must ground-pound it. This is the only Mini Battle that requires luck, seeing how the player cannot see which balloon holds the Special Item. If the player pops the correct balloon, they will get either a 10-Point Star or a 20-Point Star. However, if the Bandit pops the correct balloon, the player will lose.
This Mini Battle can be played behind the locked doors of shacks in the stages Visit Koopa And Para-Koopa, Monkeys' Favorite Lake, Lake Shore Paradise, and, only in the original SNES version, Scary Skeleton Goonies!

- SNES version: "Pound the ground to pop balloons. Find the correct one to win!"
- GBA version: "Pound the ground to pop balloons. Find the correct one to win! If Yoshi wins, you will get a 10 pt. Star or a 20 pt. Star!"
