The Circuit Special is an unlockable kart body in Mario Kart 8. The kart resembles a Formula One car, more specifically the ones seen in F-1 Race, another Nintendo game on the NES and Game Boy. It also looks similar to the Sprinter (B Dasher Mk 2 in the PAL regions and Japan) from Mario Kart Wii. In fact, its Dutch name is the Sprinter 2.0, either a reference to the B Dasher (Sprinter in Dutch), or the actual Sprinter.

It offers a speed and weight boost, but it hinders in acceleration and especially traction; it shares its stats with the Sports Coupe, Mach 8, B Dasher, and P-Wing. It shares the same sound with the Sports Coupe and is one of the few vehicles in the game to have a supercharged engine, along with the aforementioned karts.

A CPU-controlled Yoshi, Rosalina, Metal Mario, and Pink Gold Peach may occasionally use this kart body with the Standard tires.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it is now available from the start. CPU Bowser and King Boo occasionally use this body during races, with the former using the Monster tires with it.

Trivia

  • Ecluding male Miis and DLC, Donkey Kong is one of few males who has the orange/yellow varnish color. The other one is Larry Koopa.
  • Like the Sport Bike, the green varnish is the only one to not be used by any large body frame characters.
  • This is one of the few vehicle bodies where Peach, Daisy, and their baby counterparts share one of the color schemes, while Rosalina and Baby Rosalina's color scheme is separate from the other two princesses and their baby counterparts. In this case Peach, Daisy, Baby Peach, and Baby Daisy all use the orange/yellow varnish while Rosalina and Baby Rosalina use the blue/white varnish.
  • Excluding female Miis, the Circuit Special's green varnish is the only one to be used by only male characters, as the other three varnish colors are used by at least one female character.
